Unable to jump start 2010

Back about five years ago, I found that my 2010 FFH would not start. I tried jump starting, but this did not work and ended up having the car towed to the dealer. The dealer replaced the 12V battery and all was fine after. 

 

Does anyone have any ideas why jump starting did not work? I would like to avoid having the same scenario again.

If the dead battery had two cells shorted out it would limit the voltage to 8 volts no matter what the jump battery was capable of.

did you use the car chassis, and the red pin in the front, under the hood?

once 12 volts battery dead..  no way for jump start...  must replace new 12 volts battery...   fusion has no alter for feeding 12 volts battery...  EV hybrid battery is feeding to 12 volts so you need to keep running at least 10 minutes per month if not use to drive over a month..
