hytibill Report post Posted June 15, 2021 I bought a used 2019 Ford Fusion Titanium Hybrid from Enterprise Car Sales last year with about 40,000 miles on the clock. Wanted to run either Seafoam or CRC GDI Intake Valve Cleaner just in case the car was not treated well. Any recommendations on where to pump it in? Thinking of either removing the MAF sensor and using that hole to spray the stuff in. Can't find the brake vacuum tube and don't want to spray it directly into the throttle body. Thanks! What kind of use or treatment would cause a need for a cleaner like that? I've never even thought about that or read about it here.
Waldo Report post Posted June 16, 2021 Yea, the FFH uses an Atkinson cycle engine, not GDI, so I don' think the issues that those types of cleaners are meant for really exist. Seems likely to do more harm than good IMHO.
MeeLee Report post Posted June 19, 2021 Best you can do, is just before an oil change at 4k miles (1000 miles early), and do an Italian tuneup, and immediately after an oil change. Cleans out a lot of gunk. I myself took it to some desolate road, after warning up the engine, did 0-118MPH (=FFH hard limit on speed) at WOT acceleration, and drove home for the oil change. Even with full synthetic (clear like water), it got dirty enough to need the oil change at before 6k miles. Full synthetic preferred, but you can also use 0W20 semi synthetic. My next oil change will be 0W20.
