The Mercedes lingtronic started a customer service call, without my authorization. There was no phone connected to the van. That's crazy. And there was no mobile phone near by? So the car had its own cellular service? I do recall my insurance company asking me a few years ago if I'd like to get a GPS monitor placed on my older car to verify that I was a good driver to reduce my rates. Being creeped out by it I declined, however, they never asked to have one put on the Fusion. I wonder, since there is a GPS module installed on our cars that works with EV+ mode to keep the engine off when approaching home, if our driving habits are being monitored. I drive pretty laid back in this car because I am always trying to improve my fuel economy, but I definitely don't consent to being tracked. Additionally suspicious is when years ago I phoned Sirius up to ask them to take my information out of their database when I was getting mail from them. They refused. I never used satellite radio and I never will. I then asked them if they'd put fake information in instead and the guy said that would be "fraud!". How would it be fraud if I am not paying them for anything and they are not paying me for anything? I just want to be left the fk alone and not be tracked or followed by anyone. Waldo Report post Posted February 8 GPS is a receiver, it is not a sender. As I've mentioned here a million times, your 2014 Fusion has NO WAY of sending any information to anybody! The later ones with TCUs (or the earlier Energies), that's a different story. But without a TCU, there is no 2-way communication.

The 2014 and other years and other ford models without a tcu can send out your location to emergency responders only if you have a paired phone, through the 911 assist feature. That can be disabled for the paranoid. I personally think its a good safety feature and I leave it enabled.
