Sky14FFH Report post Posted September 26, 2020 (edited) I went to get an oil change at a close by dealer a couple days ago and they told me there was an oil leak and showed me it coming from the rear right of the engine. None had dripped on the under body cover. So I took it for an inspection at an auto club certified dealer and they told me it was the "front timing cover". What is that and does it have something to do with the Atkinson cycle engine and hybrid drive train? They also told me that the seepage is too small to be a concern right now. I found this link. https://gobdp.com/blog/timing-cover-oil-leak-fix/ Edited September 26, 2020 by Sky14FFH added link
toyfan2 Report post Posted January 26, 2021 when i bought my 16 it was inspected and found a leak on the cover as well. it was more of a seep, just enough to collect dirt. not worth fixing till it starts dripping. ive tried many different additives/stop leaks and none soo far have ever worked. Sky14FFH Report post Posted January 27, 2021 Same with mine, there's a seepage. I'm annoyed they didn't tell me until they knew it was out of warranty so I recommend everyone check for that. I tried a couple ounces of Scotty Kilmer's recommendation of AT-205 https://youtu.be/HTT0sejhoOQ?t=35 after using 6oz (each 8 ounce bottle is good for 6 quarts of oil) of it on my other car because the rear main seal is leaking on that after 21 years. I got it at Advance Auto Parts. It appears to have stopped the leak on the old car. I'll check the fusion in the spring to see if the timing chain cover on the fusion has stopped leaking. I may get another bottle of it. Instructions say it takes 5 hours of driving for it to work.
