SoulTrain86 Report post Posted June 22, 2020 Just got my first Fusion Hybrid and I am absolutely in love with this car! Everything I wanted and more, but I Am confused about one thing. Apologies if this is a dumb question, my first hybrid car. I just filled my tank at the gas station. Just shy of 14 gallons went in, and I’m averaging 36mpg. My math says that should be around 500 mile range, but my range counter is only showing 460. Will this change as I drive more? Is the computer still gathering data and learning my habits? murphy Report post Posted June 22, 2020 Yes. It could take several tanks for it to learn how you drive the car.
mwr Report post Posted June 22, 2020 I'd say don't worry about it and see what happens over time and more miles. What model year is your FFH?
thavil Report post Posted June 22, 2020 As mentioned, the car will learn your driving habits and adjust each time you fill up. If you car is a 2013 or newer, the gas tank only holds 13.5 gallons. The 2010 thru 2012 holds a little more. If you have a used car, it will take awhile to learn "your" habits versus the other driver.
Waldo Report post Posted June 23, 2020 It's not really "learning habits", it's just using the last 500 miles of driving as the average on which to base the calculation. Basically what it's telling you is the actual MPG over the last 500 miles has been 33mpg. If you can get 36mpg for the next 500 miles, then next time it will say 500 miles to empty.
