Performance Mod's 4 '08 SEL V6

Recommended Posts

I'll be picking up my '08 SEL V6 this friday & I'm wondering what you folks are doing as far as engine performance mod's? I'm looking at JET Performance Chip, Mass Air Flow Sensor & drop in K&N filter (cant locate CAI for V6). If there is anything else please let me know. Thanks

So tell me how much improvement have you seen?

Has your gas mileage suffered or increased? That is when you are not enjoying the upgrades by throttling the heck out of it. lol.

How much difference did the sway bar make?

Is Steeda the best aftermarket stuff for our Fusions?

I have recently purchased a 07 fusion and it came with a cold air intake and a SCT X3 programmer, I was wondering if you could give me some specs on custom tuning the car. I would like to have a tune to get the most power and also one to get the best fuel mileage.

Thanks...

Check your local Advance auto parts. they should have a generic polished aluminum pipe w/ a cone filter for around 50 bucks. with a little engineering you can make your own sweet custom cool air intake. but don't expect any significant boost, maybe 1 mpg and a sweet sucking sound around 2500 rpm.

The only problem with a generic application like that is the fact that it will pull in hot air from the engine compartment. You are probably better off going with a K&N Kit, it will be more expensive, but for the help they will give you it is worth it. Plus you are way more likely to avoid that "Check Engine" light.

Ok I also have a 08 SEL V6 and I'm wondering what brand of cold air intake is the best? Steeda? K&N? What are advantages and/or disadvantages for each? And give me info on your's if you currently have one....is it worth it?

I believe F2 has the best intake for the Fusion. It hangs down below the engine compartment to get real cold air. The K&N one comes with a whole new tube that probably should flow well. The Steeda one doesn't do much good. But before you jump on the bandwagon, really look at your stock intake. To me it looks good enough to supply the engine with sufficient air. For the money it's not worth the horsepower gained, and the sound you get annoyed with after the novelty is gone. This is coming from personal experience.

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HEAR some more folks' experiences. I know most leave the 3.0 stock, but for as many that have sold there has to be a very significant Tuning Community? Maybe I'll just do the K & N drop in?? I've had pretty good results from CAIs and SRIs from K&N, JLT, CPE and COBB on previous Mustangs and Mazdas. Please Advise - Thank You.

Please don't throw your money in the garbage with a K&N drop in. I have a steeda intake on my 2010 sel, I love it, comes with a huge filter. As far as performance goes, I notice a small gain, but it's mostly the sound, I was really suprised how epic it sounded when i bought it. Go with an sct tune, I'll be doing that next, sct does alot of ford vehicles, and if you have any problems, steeda has a fantastic support team.
