Benjamin Report post Posted October 1, 2019 Hi guys, happy owner of a 2010 FFH that I must replace to continue to make Uber (10 years maximum in Quebec), I have the opportunity to buy a Fusion Platinum hybrid 2017 with only 6 miles, Do you think the high voltage battery will have suffered from prolonged inactivity? Thanks ! Benjamin
rjent Report post Posted October 1, 2019 A lot of variables, but I think you would be fine. Do you have any more info? Were the batteries kept charged, left to completely discharge? Either way, with the right money, I think you will be fine .. JMHO :)
Benjamin Report post Posted October 2, 2019 Thank you for your answer rjent. I don’t have any more information but for the same price of the 2020 hybrid SE (in Canada), i can have the 2017 platinum. It's not the Energi model, I'm not sure we can charge the batterie other than by driving so they are probablement discharge since...a long time. If I am lucky, the battery will drop at the corner of dealer and Ford will put a new one :yahoo: https://www.lespac.com/en/donnacona/vehicles-cars/2017-ford-fusion-hybrid-platinum_52948983D0.jsa?searchCriteria=L3NlYXJjaC9yZXN1bHRzLmpzYT9sPTEmYT1Gb3JkK0Z1c2lvbitIeWJyaWRlKyZpPTEmZGg9MCZrPTEmZT00Ni42NjY2NyZmPS03MS41ODMzMyZoPTEmZz0yMTc1NyZnZj0yODYmaj0w&navigationInfo=YT0wJmI9NDkmYz01Mzk2MDc2NFM1Mjk0ODk4M1M1NDExODA0OFM1NTAwNDMwNVM1NDk4NTAwM1M1NTE1NzI3MFM1NDgzOTc2NlM1NDE5ODA5MFM1NTE2MzM3MlM1NDc1NTI1MyZkPTA&requester=SCH
Waldo Report post Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) That's an interesting situation. It would be really interesting to know the history of the vehicle and where it's been all this time. The window sticker will tell you what dealer it originally went to, so that could tell you if it's been at the same dealer or if they've been swapping it around. Also note that in the pictures it shows 63km, not 10 as is posted in the ad. I would be less worried about the hybrid stuff and more worried about the basic stuff. in the one picture through the wheel the brake rotor looks a bit rough. You might want to negotiate new rotors into the deal and also get some kind of guarantee that the tires haven't permanently flat spotted. Also keep in mind the oil and other fluids are 2-3 years old so that needs to be taken care of right away or taken into account in the future. While the warranty should still be valid for the full time limit, be aware that the resale value is going to drop like a stone. You might pay $33,000 for it now, but try to sell it in one month and you won't get $20,000. If you bought a 2020 SE for the same price, you could likely get ~$26,000 for it next month. Even if you plan to keep it for a long time, it could become an issue if anything every happened and you're trying to get your money from the insurance companies. Benjamin Report post Posted October 3, 2019 You have a sharp eye Waldo ! I didn't see the mileage on the photo, probablement too fast on details :superhero:I found the link for the windows sticker but i'm not able to see the destination dealer : http://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?token=IZN%2B8LrmDog0C7pH7vxlhkihOS7d8o4g5mi8Vf0PXIR5OWqrg0%20%2Fpvig%2FP%2BlYlXUkrqBWI1T%2BSoSrTRiwS83ELNJTcaZuOf9VjG5TkVwbdpocaWyewiDF06UlBaYV56CEqfhdSvoB%2Fgf%2FzSduo3mQl%2BMNRA%2BVNvm3cnU3mZx3Zzo%3D I found the car on another website and i see Current price $33,995 Originally listed for $44,288 https://www.autotrader.ca/a/ford/fusion%20hybrid/donnacona/quebec/5_43036390_20045188648706/?showcpo=ShowCpo&ncse=no&ursrc=pl&urp=1&urm=1&pc=G1M%202R1&sprx=100 therefore I strongly assume that the vehicle has always been at the same dealer. it is certain that if I buy the car, I will change the oil and the filter before leaving and I make sure that the tires and brakes are OK, it is a car that i will have to take the greatest care because it has never been break in. I share your opinion for resale value. On the other hand in Quebec, insurance is not a problem. For example, insurance for my FFH 2010 costs me only 1078$ + taxes with 2 millions liability , 0$ déductible for comprehensive, collision, glass coverage, claim forgiveness (for 2 claims), rental car, roadside assistance and, the most important, an endorsement who paid the price I paid for my car, increased by an annual percentage of 5% (I’m more covered than most recent cars but i'm a little crazy). Thanks for your detailed answer, I'll figure out my next move. I hope my English is not too terrible because I only speak English with my clients Uber usually, sorry for any mistakes. tr7driver Report post Posted October 3, 2019 I bought a 2013 C-max with 46 miles on it from a dealer in 2015, for about half of the sticker price. I asked for a new 12V battery because of the battery issues. That said, I never have had any issues with it. It still runs and charges great.
