dickendd Report post Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) Today when leaving work in my 2016 fusion hybrid, I heard a slight thump then when I turned a corner, I noticed the airbag/horn assembly in the middle of the steering wheel was loose then it completely fell out as I continued turning the wheel. It's still connected by a wire or two but it is basically hanging out of the wheel.Has anyone had this happen? I had the steering wheel bolt recall fixed last year and haven't heard of any other recalls.I was shocked, and literally a month after my manufacturer warranty ended! Edit: I logged into my ford account online and did find a warning about the Takata airbag recall but my year Fusion is not included in that. 2014FordFusionSE Report post Posted August 8, 2019 I think you've experienced what I always fear ie. when you take the vehicle in for a recall, they perform the recall but don't put everything back together the way it should be.You may want to take it back to the dealership that did the steering wheel bolt recall. dickendd Report post Posted August 9, 2019 It could be that but I got that recall repaired months ago, if not a year ago. I would think that it would have happened much sooner, but who knows? Dealership says they can't look at it until Monday, so I will post again here when I know more.
dickendd Report post Posted August 9, 2019 Well, had the car towed to the dealership this morning and the service manager called me back about an hour later and said it's fixed, no charge. He said "The horn button wasn't seated properly" but it's all good now. He mentioned off hand that it could have been related to a prior recall fix. Hmm I think you were right after all.
