Aftermarket Radio and Compass Question

I recently installed an aftermarket radio in my 2010 FFH (Sync, but no navigation system). The compass on the old LCD readout panel is now stuck on "N" and will, occasionally, flash "cal" which, I believe, means it wants me to calibrate the compass.

Does anyone have any experience doing this with an aftermarket radio? The manual instructions don't seem possible without the factory radio.
