Our concern has to do with longer trips - we routinely make a couple of trips a year that are 12-13 hours of continuous freeway driving each way, and others that are 5-6 hours of freeway driving. lolder Report post Posted September 29, 2018 At 70 mph and 90º F. it will get 39 mpg. Increasing speed costs 6 mpg per 10 mph increase. Decreasing temperature costs 2 mpg per 10º F. I disagree with an expressway tank range of over 600 miles. Under ideal conditions and draining the gas tank down to fumes you might go over 600 miles on a tank but most drivers would be uncomfortable doing that. By your own numbers (39 MPG at 70 MPH) would require 15.4 gallons to go 600 miles. To go over 600 miles as you stated will require more than 15.4 gallons. The FFH owner's manual states that the fuel tank capacity is 13.5 gallons but there has been a lot of discussion and debate about that on this forum.
