scoobie Report post Posted May 4, 2018 Just picked up my 2018 Fusion Hybrid Titanium... absolutely loving it... best car I've ever owned. I am getting some very intermittent satellite drops... only 1-2 seconds at a time, and it happens about every 15-30 minutes or so. Nothing happens to the screen... just an audio drop out. Does not happen with USB thumb drive source, so I am assuming it is likely something in the satellite module. I think if it were the antenna, it would popup a message "signal loss" on the screen. I tried Googling it, but couldn't find anything outside of antenna issues they had back several years ago, but it wasn't the same problem I am having. Has anyone heard of anything similar from any other owners? Thanks!
murphy Report post Posted May 4, 2018 Ford uses the Sirius satellite. I have always had dropouts from Sirius. I now have an XM radio in my Ford, plugged into the red/white audio input jacks. No more dropouts. Now that Sirius and XM are the same company it may be difficult to identify a radio that uses the XM satellite. I got mine long before the merger. scoobie Report post Posted May 4, 2018 It's all the same now... but this is the first of many Fords that I had dropouts like this. However... today on a 2 hour drive it only dropped out twice and it was probably only a 1/2 second each time. These are random spots that don't normally give me any trouble in any of my other vehicles.
ceilidhdog Report post Posted May 6, 2018 I've had Sirius XM for years, and occasional dropouts are common. I think it can be caused bynearby high-voltage power lines, weather, sunspots, etc.
murphy Report post Posted May 6, 2018 If you are driving on a road where the trees on either side of the road form a canopy over the road it makes a huge difference if you are listening to a Sirius satellite. It is way better if you are listening to an XM satellite. Just because the two companies merged did not change the satellites. There are still radios that tune the Sirius satellite and radios that tune the XM satellite. There are newer, since the merger, radios that can tune either satellite. My 2013 Energi tunes the Sirius satellite. It no longer has a subscription. I have one of my lifetime XM radios in it because it works much better.
