Jamers99 Report post Posted September 14, 2005 OK the SEL comes standard with a 6 disc In-Dash Changer w/MP3 and 6 spkrs. For $420 more you can get the Audiophile 6-Disc In-Dash Changer w/MP3 Player and 8-Spkrs . As near as I can tell you are effectively playing $420 to only gain 2 more speakers. Could that be correct? Maybe they up the wattage too but that seems like a lot of $$$ for a minor stereo upgrade.

Of course, generally speaking, you're still better off pocketing the money and buying some quality aftermarket stuff instead.
HEVeng Report post Posted February 3, 2006 (edited) The $420 'Audiophile' system is a POS like just about all Ford 'premium' systems. It is one of two options I wish were not on this car. Did these audio people at Ford ever hear of vocals/mid-range? Might as well be a karaoke setup. All bass and high freq. treble. The vocals absolutely suck. I have spent time with the Mach 460, Mach 1000 and Ranger Tremor systems, they are all a joke considering the price. You can get much better stuff going aftermarket. Oh yeah, my CD-6 MP3 player was DOA from the factory. Won't accept CDs and needs to be replaced. My parent's Fukus CD-6 died as well. It now has an Alpine MP3 player. Futura Report post Posted February 3, 2006 The Audiophile system is a good upgrade over the standard system. I listened to both back-to-back before placing my order. The Audiophile produces full, rich music and can be played REALLY load without distorting.Does it produce thundering bass? -NO The bass lines are tight, the vocals clear, and the speakers do a good job of separating the tones. Everyone who's heard the Audiophile system in my car has been really impressed. That being said, car audio taste is subjective. For some, if it's not ear-piercing, it's no good. For others, if it doesn't rattle the windows with bass, it's no good. Kinda like trying to describe exhaust sound- some people like Flowmaster, some like Borla, some like . . . What most people don't know is they aren't two phisically new locatoins. Same speakers as the SEL but two of the speakers will have tweeters which technically count as seperate speakers. I didn't see any documention that all the speakers are upgraded to premium. If I'm wrong please let me know cause I would consider the upgrade if it's worth it when I get my 2007..... thereisnospoon Report post Posted June 23, 2006 I listened to the Audiophile system. Trust me, you're not missing anything if you don't get it. I opted with the regular system and it sounds better than the 8 speaker system I had custom-installed with 2 - 8" subwoofers in my old F150 that I traded in. Drake Report post Posted June 23, 2006 I wonder if the radio system with the nav system for '07 is any different?

That's not correct. The audiophile system replaces the front 2-way speaker with components - woofer in the bottom of the door and a tweeter next to the side mirror. It also adds 2 6x8 subwoofers in the rear deck. I agree it doesn't sound all that great and I'm looking to replace the speakers, but it is quite different from the standard setup. thereisnospoon Report post Posted June 27, 2006 I've got 6 speakers in my standard setup. Where do the other two speakers in the Audiophile system come from? To be honest with you I just sat in the audiophile car and listened - didn't really pay attention to where the speakers were compared to one that didn't have it. I thought it was the rear deck subwoofers, but it could be the A pillar tweeters. I don't remember whether the premium radio has the speakers in the A pillar or not. Ford counts the regular 2 -way door speakers as 2 speakers (woofer and tweeter).
Kevon Report post Posted October 14, 2006 Does anyone know about getting an audio input for my MP3 player? I have the 06 Fusion with the audiophile but it has no input... but now on the 07' they have added it. I do have one person that said they offer a kit for about $130.00 as an add-on (name of kit or were do you get it?). I bought the radio type MP3 hook-up and that sucks. Also, I can't seem to have the stereo to read the cd's? My Freestyle does and I have the best stereo they offer in this car and it's not going to read the cd's? I've pushed the text button and went through the book but no luck. Thank you!!

Thanks! How would you use a R/F adapter? That doesn't make sense. The existing subs in the audiophile system should have their own amp so there should be a line in you can use or just use the existing sub speaker inputs to a speaker level amp input.
