Looking at a 2013 Titanium Energi

Recommended Posts

I found a car online that I really like. It is a 2013 which I believe is the first year. Any issues or gremlins with the 2013 models? It has 12mo/12k bumper to bumper but I am adding an extended warranty. Also how worthwhile is drivers and parking assist and adaptive cruise options? I have owned/driven several Fusions but were the prior models non hybrid but loved them all the way from the S model to the Sport model. Happy Holidays!

The 2013s have several problems. Some have an AC mold problem due to an improperly designed plenum that may require dash removal to replace. There have been transmission case oil leaks and premature transmission failures. There are a number of more minor problems like front axle noise whose fix is a spacer disc. Read the maintenance log and repair invoices. This is really not a car that you want to buy "on-line".

With gas prices that low, Dealer's are battling to sell these cars. I've worked for Ford in 2013-2015 and i've seen Energi's sitting for months in parking lots.

Go around dealers and ask for quotes, real quotes, and I wouldn't be surprised that you walk out with a brand new Fusion for a couple more grands than a use one.

When I bought my Hybrid, the dealer almost thank me to get if off the inventory.
