Luron Report post Posted June 4, 2016 Hi everyone, My 2016 Fusion (only 12K) has water leak at the sunvisor base plate. It happens when there is a big rain. It happened the second time today. First time was about a month ago. I am sure it went through the sunroof somehow. Has anyone experienced this for known anything about this?I am thinking of bringing it to the dealership next week. Thank you.
Larry Twitchell Report post Posted June 4, 2016 Unusual, I'd say. Let the dealer take care of it before water damages a whole lot more than just the headliner. There's too much tech stuff to be affected by waiting for another deluge. Good luck.
Luron Report post Posted June 4, 2016 Thanks, Larry. I already made an appt to drop it off. They have a special guy only on certain days for water leak. Other than this I really like my Fusion.
billford Report post Posted June 4, 2016 Lot of times the sunroof drain hoses get plugged, especially if the cars parked under a tree.
machoman1337 Report post Posted June 5, 2016 Ugh, another addition to my list of reasons for detesting moonroofs. I only have one because I bought a used car. I'm definitely factory ordering my next car to avoid this (if possible). 1 Texasota reacted to this

Hope the OP gets it straightened out soon. 1 machoman1337 reacted to this
Timewellspent Report post Posted June 7, 2016 I've never had a problem with factory installed ones. I have heard of people that had dealer installed that leaked.
talmy Report post Posted June 8, 2016 Drain leaked in our 2007 Camry Hybrid. $500 to fix. We would have been happier without the sunroof (never open it and it reduces headroom by an inch). Our Fusion hybrid, it's been no problem, have plenty of headroom, and have actually used it.
murphy Report post Posted June 8, 2016 I use mine every time I get into a hot car to let the hot air escape. 1 Timewellspent reacted to this
Luron Report post Posted June 11, 2016 Thanks for all your responses. The dealership said they cleaned the drains and will see if it happened again. I doubted it was the clogged drains, the tray was clean and I hardly opened the roof so the drains should not get dirty that fast. Next time when I bring it in it will be looked at by a water leak person. I guessed they tried not to give me a loaner last week. I am just not lucky. Water leaks from sunroofs are not common. I have had many cars with sunroofs and never had problems. I will let you know how the problem goes.
Larry Twitchell Report post Posted June 12, 2016 Hang in there and don't let them off the hook.
Luron Report post Posted October 29, 2016 I just want to update with everyone about this issue. The Ford dealership I brought it to said the drain might be clogged and blew the drain tubes. It's been month now and the problem has not come back after many big rains. I guess that was the problem. Just did not think it could be clogged that fast when it was on 7 months after I bought it brand new.
Larry Twitchell Report post Posted October 30, 2016 If you're parking outdoors, there may be a number of things that could be getting into the drains. Debris from evergreen trees, live oak, etc. come to mind.
