Here is the text from the article:

DEARBORN, Mich., June 1, 2016 – Ford is issuing a safety recall for vehicles that have certain non-desiccated Takata passenger-side frontal airbag inflators after Takata declared those inflators are defective. This expanded recall follows Takata’s notification to the U.S. NHTSA that certain of its airbag inflators are defective, affecting several automakers across the industry.

The vehicles affected by this Takata action are 2007-2010 Ford Edge, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, 2005-2011 Ford Mustang, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX and 2006-2011 Lincoln MKZ, Zephyr and Mercury Milan vehicles built in North America. Ford is not aware of any injuries associated with these passenger side frontal inflators in any Ford vehicles related to this safety recall. Driver side airbag inflators in these vehicles are not included in this recall.

A total of 1,898,728 vehicles now are affected by this safety recall, including 1,896,443 in the United States and federalized territories, 1,304 in Canada and one in Mexico. Dealers will replace the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator at no cost to the customer.

Ford is committed to providing our customers with top quality vehicles. We are equally committed to addressing potential issues and responding quickly. Customers who want to know if their vehicle is included in this recall can visit www.ford.com and click on safety recalls at the bottom of the page and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

My 2010 FFH was included in this June 2016 recall for the passenger airbag.

Last year (2017) I got an updated notification in the mail saying that no one should sit in the front passengers seat until the recall work is performed and the part needed for the recall would not be available until Spring 2018. Anyone else get this?

Since Spring is almost over, I just checked the owner.ford.com site with my VIN and it does not mention not using the passenger seat and says the car is safe to drive. Did Ford change their position on the safety of this?

BTW, I live in Georgia so pretty hot and humid (this increases the failure rate of the suspect airbags).

Well, I got another letter from Ford. This one said Ford would provide me a free rental car until a replacement passenger airbag is available. I keep my FFH but they recorded the mileage and I can't drive it while I have the free rental car. Replacement airbag should be available before the end of the year.
