mustang90 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 leave the use disc space option on. otherwise the sync can not write to the drive for indexing. Also if you have compilations, be sure that your ipod is set to off otherwise you will not be able to see or play and of the compilations albums, this is a bug I would really like to see fixed. My 30gig is barely half full of music so disc space isn't a prob. I did have the disc space option on and then off and it didn't work either way. I got a call from some sync guy the other day and he said he was working with my dealership and basiclly wanted to replace my sync module. He seemed to think that replacing the module was a better idea than waiting for a new software release. I wish we knew what percentage of people have this problem because sync seemed to think that this is a very rare problem. Maybe it is just a bunch of defective sync modules; doesn't seem very likely though. That one guy in the edge forum got his replaced and it works fine now... I'll probably get mine replaced too I guess. I'll keep everyone updated on the results when and if it happenes for sure (I gotta call the dealer to schedule it in). rwpdallas Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I've been monitoring several webpages on behalf of Ford and hope you don't mind if I clarify some information. Ford is committed to the success of SYNC and we are constantly updating our compatibility lists of cell phones and media devices. We've devoted a lot of resources to work out any issues. .................................................................................................................. It is nice that you have been monitoring this website, but I have had the problem since November, reported it several times and still nothing on the syncmyride website about it. It would keep the frustration level down if there was some information and assurances that someone was working on a solution. I called again two weeks ago and the first person I talked with had never heard of the issue. I told them to try a Google search and they could have some fun. I was then transferred to "Level 2" or "Tech Support" or something and was told that they had knowledge of it, but "it did not seem to be very wide spread". See Google again. I was assured that Ford was trying to come up with a solution. I called today for an update and was told that Ford was working on the issue, but once again, there is no estimated time for a solution. Supposedly if you have called and reported it and have a Reference number, you will be contacted when a solution is available. I really like the fact that I paid extra for an option that has not been corrected in over 4 months. And Ford wonders why they keep falling further behind. I am a Ford guy with 2 current Ford products, but think I may go Honda next time. My other Ford (2001 Sportrac) just recently received its 4th or 5th Recall. 800-967-4033 is the sync support line. The more people that call it, hopefully the faster we will get a fix.
mustang90 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 UPDATE: My car went into the dealer yesterday and sure enough they are going to replace the sync module. They said that the "sync hotline people" said that there is an ipod compatibility issue and that the sync modules in the cars being built now are different. Whether it is just software I dont know, but regardless, the one I'm getting replaced had an issue. Unfortuanatly they told me I'd have to come back next week to get it replaced because the part could not be delivered overnight. I guess they said they are in demand right now, go figure. I should have mine replaced by some time next week, I'll post when that happens with my results. Hopefully everything will work. Good luck guys and I'd recommend going to your dealers. Have them call sync, they know of the problem and will attempt to fix it.

I've been fighting with my dealership for the last month dealing with this issue. I've talked to the Sync support line and got through to level 2 support. They indicated that Level 3 knew about the issue and they were working on a solution. The technician did not know if it was going to be software or hardware at this time nor did he have an eta. Bottom line, I'm very frustrated that this is not working and every time I see a commercial on TV advertising Sync I get more and more frustrated. I'm really ready for this to be fixed. I feel your pain man, when every commercial is on tv, I'm like "mine doesnt do that, or that, or that..." Well anyways, my car is at the dealer right now and I will have it back tomorrow afternoon. I'll post right away with my results. If everything is fixed and works properly I'll give you my dealer phone number so your dealer (or so you) can call them and ask about it. My dealer has been very good with trying to help me out and as soon as they had the go ahead from sync, they ordered the replacement module for me. My sync hasent worked properly since I bought the car at the end of last November. I'm ready for my sync to be fixed too.
mustang90 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 UPDATE: Sync is replaced and no more USB REMOVED error!!!! My only issue now is that its not responding to voice commands to find certain artists. All the required information is entered for each file, but I can only call out a few artist names. I can manually select them by going thru the menu, but voice commands are being a pain is the ass for me right now. So I guess its sorta fixed. All I know is that my buddies zune worked better with my sync then any ipod ever did. Good luck everyone. If anyone wants my dealer's name / number let me know. So are you satisfied with SYNC overall? This is one of the reasons why I am seriously looking at buying the car. I don't have time to take it back and forth to the dealership waiting for it to be fixed.
mustang90 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 So are you satisfied with SYNC overall? This is one of the reasons why I am seriously looking at buying the car. I don't have time to take it back and forth to the dealership waiting for it to be fixed. I love everything about the car, the v6 has good power. My only issue all was with the sync. All the new cars being built now have updated versions of them so you'd most likely not have my problem, especially considering they're giving away an iphone with them. Iphones were having the same problem as me. Like I said in my last post, my ipod is still not working 100% but i'm working on it. My car worked flawless with a zune. Just right now it isn't seeing all of my songs on my ipod. I guess I'm not satisfied with sync overall right now. It works for answering my phone but wont load my phonebook (so you can tell it who to call). And it isn't really working properly with my fairly new ipod. I guess if I had the right phone and a media player that worked I'd have a better opinion of sync.

Apparently its a usb issue, the ports they put in all models are similar, which is why its not limited to one model. I took my new fusion back to the dealership to have it looked at, and the guys in the service department called some ford helpline, and i guess fords engineers are working on a solution for the usb port problem. Mine just all of a sudden wouldnt recognize anything that was put into the port, it just kept telling me usb empty. it sucks! i really like the sync system, a lot easier than trying to sort through thousands of songs and taking my eyes off the road...huge convenience factor, and just wicked cool haha. I guess a part is being sent to my dealerships service dept to fix the problem, i dont know if its the actual fix. but hopefully it works out...or the big fix doesnt take too long. ill keep you all posted if i hear anything else! So apparently sync can be a pain to get working, but once it does, it's pretty cool. Hopefully your problem gets fixed soon. And just to correct my last post, all (or as far as I can tell) my songs work with voice commands now. I was bored at work one day and the online pdf manual said to talk fast like you would normally talk... Sure enough, artists that it did not recognize before work. I guess I thought that talking slower would make it work better; not at all. I felt kinda dumb. Whatever, it works now, that's all that matters! marlowkoch Report post Posted May 2, 2008 I have also purchased a 2008 Ford Fusion and have Zune. My zune was working fine for the first week and now it will play for about 5 seconds and then "USB REMOVED" and then reconnects. This happens 95% of the time. I have had it into Ford and they pulled the fuse to restart the computer and then it worked for a day. Now they think it is the Zune which I dont' think is. Please keep me informed as I will do the same. I love the Fusion and the Sync but does drive a person crazy when you buy something and expect it to work correctly.. Sounds like the same problem I had. Tell them to replace the sync module. My dealer had to "diagnose the problem" with sync on the phone and apparently mine failed the test. Regardless, the replacement works perfect and I have not had a problem since. Try one of your friends' ipods or something too. Mine worked fine with a zune and the old ipods, just not my video. Good luck, post your outcome!
