Complain to the manufacturer or not?

When I worked for Ford, we had a customer who's 2013 Escape died on the highway right after leaving the dealership.

We, and the engineer at Ford, never been able to point at the problem.

My cousin was the salesman. After a month, we (the dealer) replaced the customer's vehicule with a new Escape.

 

Ford never refunded the dealer for the dead Escape, which is still in the parking lot, used as a ''flower pot''.

 

So, if communication between dealers and Ford is this hard, imagine for a regular customer.
