Leon1972 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Just wanted to stop in and say hi as a new hybrid owner. Loving it so far. Used to go through a tank every five days of work. Here I am in my fifth day and still at half a tank, though I WAS expecting a little bit better mileage. Lol. I love the sporty look and all the amazing options that came with my car!!!!! lolder Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Welcome ! Read all the manuals twice and push all the buttons while parked. The mileage will decline with colder weather. Don't worry about it. The biggest break-in is your driving habits. Come spring things will really improve. Enjoy. 1 GrySql reacted to this
Leon1972 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) What temps does mileage drop at? The mornings are currently in the low 40 to 50s and the days can still hit the mid 60s right now in Georgia. Edited November 12, 2015 by Leon1972
Leon1972 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 And I think vehicle breakin is done. I bought it "used". Great deal on a fully loaded minus sunroof with 4000 miles on it
lolder Report post Posted November 12, 2015 What temps does mileage drop at? The mornings are currently in the low 40 to 50s and the days can still hit the mid 60s right now in Georgia. It's mostly linear from about 95 to below 30º F. at 2 mpg per 10ºF. I don't have experience below 30. Cars don't like cold weather just like people. Headwinds more prominent in Winter are 3 mpg per 10 mph. Wet or contaminated roads are up to 10 mpg. Put the HVAC in auto and enjoy a comfortable car. 2 hybridbear and corncobs reacted to this
machoman1337 Report post Posted November 16, 2015 I'm the type of person who is far more sensitive to heat than to cold (unless it's extreme cold like in New England or Ontario) so I actually get worse mileage on hot days than on cold days. Here in the lower mainland of British Columbia, temperatures don't go below 0C (32F) often and when they do it's not too bad (typically still in single digits) and doesn't last long. I don't blast the heating and just set the defogger to the minimum needed to avoid a blurry windshield (usually about 16-17C at this time of the year). Hence my winter mileage is only a tiny bit lower than it is during the mild periods (spring and fall). However in the summer I just can't live without air conditioning so my consumption goes up noticeably, by as much as 1.0L/100 km. I'd lower the windows if not for all the construction on the way to work producing a ton of sediments which I don't want inside my car. If I still lived in Ontario I would likely run the heating to 20C or higher, so my mileage would take a large hit. I drove a non-hybrid V6 Fusion back then and my mileage was equivalent to 16-17 mpg because of the heater being so thirsty. Georgia doesn't sound like the kind of place with harsh winters so you shouldn't have to worry much about cold weather affecting mileage.
jgnfld Report post Posted December 2, 2015 What temps does mileage drop at? The mornings are currently in the low 40 to 50s and the days can still hit the mid 60s right now in Georgia.I had the old V6 AWD Fusion back in 2007. It got about 9.5 l/100km (25mpg) in my driving in very hilly Newfoundland in the summer (70s temps), but dropped to 12.5 l/100km (19mpg) or worse in our very harsh, long winters which range in the 0-32F area mostly but lots of snow, slush, and general muck as. Recently bought a demo FFH(S) with 1800km (1200mi) on it. Weather has turned cold--sub 32F--but I am getting 6.2 l/100km (38mpg) so far. One long 90kph (56mph), nicely rolling country, back road drive that did not involve the long 300 meter climb out of town like most drives do I got 4.9 l/100 km (48mpg). I am pretty satisfied already with the gas consumption as gas is $1.05/liter ($3.20/gallonUSD) here now and often higher. Anyway, that's my cold weather experience so far. 2 hybridbear and Hybrider reacted to this
