md13ffhguy Report post Posted October 19, 2015 Did that happen after the 3.8 update?Pretty sure that's what he meant by "post" 3.8 update. ;) However, it's possibly more likely coincidental than causative, since there haven't been other similar reports. 2 gkinla and Bryan Burch reacted to this
Bryan Burch Report post Posted October 20, 2015 yeah, it did that 20 minutes or so after the update. It stopped after a 1/2 hour or so.. I have my eyes on it.
gkinla Report post Posted October 24, 2015 Update: The latest 3.8 allows Siri to become active with a long 3 second push of the voice button. The iPhone doesn't have to be plugged in, it uses Bluetooth. I use texting all the time, and use text to voice to listen, it allows me to respond to text immediately. Push the voice button for 3 seconds until you hear the beep. I'll say, Siri send a text message to, whomever, Siri asks what do you want to say, dictate it then pause. Siri will repeat what you just said to confirm, then will ask to send, say yes, then Siri will say, sending. A great time saver while on the road. 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this

Looks like it's only available with MFT. Now iPhone users can use Siri® Eyes Free with SYNC® with MyFord Touch®. With simple voice commands, SYNC® with MyFord Touch® enables you to operate the iPhone and SYNC® together. Siri® Eyes Free can be activated by pressing and holding the voice button for at least 3 seconds. 1 corncobs reacted to this

Riggo Report post Posted October 25, 2015 I just installed the update today. So far I love it. I can now send text messages, have text messages read to me, get sports scores, weather, and have Apple Music play any song or any Apple Music radio station I create all without touching my phone. It even automatically switches to Bluetooth when I have it play Apple Music. 3 gkinla, corncobs and GrySql reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted October 25, 2015 Ford Owner shows 3.8 as available for the 2013 Focus Electric (built in fall 2012) but not for the 2013 Fusion Energi (built in May 2013). I am installing it now in the Focus Electric. I wasn't going to bother, but Siri Eyes Free is a very attractive feature. Hopefully Ford will figure out why some 2013 Fusions don't show this update... 2 gkinla and corncobs reacted to this

TonyHzNV Report post Posted November 8, 2015 3.8 installed successfully first time, but not without surprises...... I decided to upgrade my Sync system today (from v3.7) even though I didn't really see anything advantageous in it for me in the description on the Sync Owner site (I have an Android phone). I DID have 3.8 show up as an available update for my 2014 FFH on the Sync page. After installing the update, the first thing I noticed was that both phones that I had paired with the Sync system were no longer there (a Samsung Galaxy S4 & an S5). I re-paired the S5 to the system. The second thing I noticed was that my Home Screen looked rather dark, so I went in to the display options to re-select my wallpaper, but all my wallpaper files had been deleted. I had to reinstall them from my USB stick on which I had originally saved them. The third thing I noticed was that my Navi no longer knew where it was. There was a message displayed on the screen to the effect that the car was on an unknown street and it would update as soon as it was located on a known street. I drove it to the Wal-Mart about 1-1/2 miles from the house, but the message never went away and I didn't see the Navi update its position. I'll play with it some more tomorrow Just thought some of you might like to hear of my experience so it doesn't happen to you as well. After all, I'm sure I"m not the only "Curious George" out there. :)

After all, I'm sure I"m not the only "Curious George" out there. :) I didn't have the navigation problems, but each time I've updated, there have been needs to pair phones, and install screen backgrounds again. Also, I always for get to turn on the settings for displaying text messages in the car when reparing sync on the phone. Then I hear a text come into the phone and wait for it to get into the car... Also whatever display setting option I had on the left dash screen is no longer there and needs to be reselected. Minor stuff, but there is a list. I am liking the ability to push hold the voice command button to access SIRI, this has proven useful. Edited November 8, 2015 by JimArch
CCalvinN Report post Posted November 8, 2015 I actually saw the message that 3.8 was available as soon as it was posted here. At first I was just waiting for a convenient slot of time to dedicate to the upgrade process. But the longer I go without it, the more I realize that the system just works fine for me. I cant' see any advantage to this new system. If I had an iPhone this would be a welcome upgrade... but without that I just don't see the value. I'm normally one of those people that upgrade software just to be on the most current version. I don't think I'll do that this time. Unless they add some other major functionality or repair some problem that I've yet to personally experience, or at the very least improve the response speed of the screen, I'm going to just happily sit at 3.7 until I get a new Ford product and get Sync3. 1 jeffo65 reacted to this
energized Report post Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) Hey everyone! Please try logging into your Owner.Ford.com account, click on SYNC & HOW-TOS, then CHECK FOR SYNC UPDATES. This update is for all MFT/MLT vehicles, and includes all improvements from previous updates (such as version 3.7 for those of you that it wasn't available for). You do not need to update your maps with a new map SD card as long as you have an A3 or higher SD card. If you cannot report the install back to us, please run a Vehicle Health Report (U.S. Customers only) or Status Checker (U.S. and Canadian Customers) by following these instructions: Vehicle Health Report - http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/vehicle-health-and-performance/how-to-run-a-vehicle-health-report-with-sync-with-myford-touch.html?sync=my-ford-touch Status Checker - Log into your Owner.Ford.com account, click on SYNC & HOW-TOS, then CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES, and scroll to the bottom of the page. There should be a Verification tool with instructions on how to use it. If it doesn't show up, you can use this link - http://owner.ford.com/tools/account/update-center?step=prepare-sa Here's the link on how to download and install the update: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/software-updates.html/?sync=my-ford-touch Please note: Your vehicle should be running during the install to ensure the radio doesn't go into battery saver mode and disrupt the update process. If the update does not appear or if you have issues downloading/installing it, please send me a private message with your VIN and the details. :) Please do NOT use files from someone else; only use the files that come from your Owner account. Rebecca Please do NOT use files from someone else; only use the files that come from your Owner account. Why not ?????????????????????? Ford has had over a month now to resolve this issue with 2013s, but Ford is either unwilling of unable to fix this issue. FordIVT has also chosen not to provide any meaningful updates on the status of the problem. Given this dismal track record, why shouldn't people use the files that are available for them to update? Since Ford and FordIVT seem incapable of resolving this, or even having the courtesy to provide basic communication on when it might be resolved, I think it's every man for himself regarding downloads. hermans Report post Posted November 8, 2015 The update I downloaded from Ford was actually missing two files and wouldn't run. The file I downloaded from IRA worked perfectly. My 2013 MKZh still shows no update. It had 3.6.2. I think Ford is just wrong on this.
murphy Report post Posted November 8, 2015 I installed Ira's file in my 2013 Energi and it worked just fine. It took several tries to upload the xml file to my account but my account now states that I am up-to-date with 3.8. I have no idea why Ford can't find someone to fix their broken web site. Probably everyone has moved on to Sync 3 and don't want to be bothered with Sync 2. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
