machoman1337 Report post Posted September 21, 2015 Historically, black has been the most common colour for just about any car - remember the Model T? "You can have any colour as long as it's black". White and silver come close. Especially on luxury models, black always seems to imply prestige and sophistication. High ranking government officials are often chauffeured in black cars. I own an Ice Storm but I do appreciate the classy look of the metallic Tuxedo black option on the 2013-2015 Fusions. I would've been just as happy buying that colour too. Sadly Ford dropped it for 2016, offering only flat black instead - whyyyyy!
talmy Report post Posted September 22, 2015 I've never understood this, but then I've never bought a black car.Hot in the summerHard to see at night and low visibility conditionsShows dirt more than any other colorOTOH, I've spent my life wanting to buy a red car for myself and have always failed (green, beige, green, brown, green, white, beige, white, in that order, and I tried for red every time). 1 machoman1337 reacted to this
machoman1337 Report post Posted September 22, 2015 I agree with all the points you listed, but I'm guessing mainstream entertainment has contributed heavily to the appeal of black cars (especially metallic black), despite the obvious disadvantages.
