ramseyny Report post Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) The recall regarding steering gear motor bolt corrosion impacted my car and some bolts were corroded and broken off. The fix is to replace the steering rack. I've been waiting for a month now for the parts with no word on when they will come. They did give me a loaner but this seems extreme. Anyone else need this fix and can comment on how long it took to get a new rack from Ford? Edited August 11, 2015 by ramseyny

Timewellspent Report post Posted August 12, 2015 I received the recall letter and made an appointment to do this fix and my 10k service at the same time. I did a night drop after hours and picked the car up before 10am the next day. The invoice says they installed 3 new steering gear motor bolts and applied sealer to specific locations on the steering gear. Sounds like you need more parts due to the bolts already being broken off?
ramseyny Report post Posted August 12, 2015 That's correct, at least one of the bolts had broken requiring a new rack. Dealer said first one they'd seen where bolts had broken off.
