slickvguy Report post Posted September 29, 2007 Not sure if I'm using the correct terms, so forgive me if I'm not being clear. The big (ugly to me) circles, i.e. speedometer, tachometer...have a nice-looking white-ish look to them when the backlight is off during the day. But the green really bothers me. I would much prefer white or blue (even amber would be nice than that green). Is there any (inexpensive) way to change that? I doubt the odometer green LED can be changed. I can live with that. But those green circles are a real distraction while driving at night. Thanks!
Woody Report post Posted December 21, 2007 Is there any (inexpensive) way to change that? I haven't yet had the need to tear apart my dashboard... But chances are that all of the dashboard lights, green or white, are LEDs.
panamajk89 Report post Posted June 12, 2008 You can't do anything about the color of the speedometer/tachometer. There is an overlay that covers white LED's, and the overlay is a green transparent plastic. I love to modify things on my cars after having a Mustang, so I took my cluster apart because I didn't like the appearance too much. I bought a Milan instrument cluster for about $35 from LKQ and disassembled it. I took the Milan cluster's overlay and rings that surrounded the gauges so that they matched the rest of the chrome on my interior. I kept the needles from my cluster because the Milan ones were shorter and white, not the look I wanted. I put it all back together and I have a look that is different than stock. I've attached a picture of the end result. I welcome comments. Thanks for reading my post!

itamecameron Report post Posted August 20, 2008 I think we may be able to change the color! just read this form and seems like it would be relatively universal... anyone else think this will work?? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1124644 anyone gets it done on their car be sure to do a step by step write up with good pics! Gravey Report post Posted November 12, 2008 that does look good but you're still left with the console lights as green

Oblivion Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Look here also http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...T&viewitem=I would be very cautious in buying that kit. some where else i read that the green comes from a plastic cover on the back of the panel, and that the lights were actually white, not green. so buying extra white lights would not give you what you want. Take a look, that is a photoshop'd image, not the real thing. :waiting: :banghead:
seasonalskier2006 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 What it is if you remove the cluster you will find that there is a small green piece of plastic in between the lights and the cluster, if you take out that piece and strip the paint from it you can mix a paint with water to make it clear, test the color on a small spot to make sure that it is see through enough to where the light will even be seen! I had done this to my other car, i never took apart the dash of my fusion (too nice!) but i would assume that the designs didn't change too much. Mercury Milan Report post Posted January 28, 2009 I think we may be able to change the color! just read this form and seems like it would be relatively universalFord hasn't used a printed circuit design like that for years. All of the newer dash circuits use micro LED's which are part of the circuit design. You would need to know their value (not sure where you'd find a schematic for something like this). The parts wouldn't cost much at all and you could find them here, but you'd need to know exactly which ones to buy as a replacement. If you tried guessing you could do serious damage to the other dash components.
