Wrench light while going up hills

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Recently had my 2010 FFH throw out the yellow wrench light on my dash. Happened the first time when I went to accelerate around a slow moving car. Drove with light on and everything seemed preety good. Turned car off and light went away. Recently went on a road trip and was on the highway and was accelerating up a hill and it came on again. Again went away but would come back when accelerating up hills. Is this the throttle body problem that it is known and FORD issued the extended warranty thing for? If not what other culprits may it be? My car just went over 50k I had the wheel bearing issue when I first bought it used with 29k on it but since then has been great until this light popping up. Thanks.

Take it to the dealer. TSB 10-17-11 may apply to it. Have them also check to see if these were done:

TSB 09-13-9 speedometer failures

TSB 10-15-5 instrument panel resets

TSB 11-7-31 false panel warnings

Customer Satisfaction bulletin 10B 13 for monitor failures causing reversion the power assisted mechanical brakes.

Does the dealer charge for updates??

We've been having this wrench light come on for a while with no performance issue, and noticed that it would only come on during the summer time (AZ), during non-summer we didn't get a wrench light.

Just recently we started having performance issues with the wrench light coming and engine light coming on. We hope it's just the throttle body that needs replacing.
