The FFH is much nicer inside, looks better outside, gets better mileage (pretty sure I saw this on one of these forums or in an ad.....sorry I'm too lazy to research it) and is made by a good USA owned company that did not take bailout money. With our economy the way it is I don't understand given a choice why people buy Japanese especially now that the Toyota quality myth has been exposed. No, I don't work for Ford, and yes I know the Fusion is assembled in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Winter Mileage and Regenerative Braking Questions
Davidoo replied to randylb's topic in General Discussion
Although we don't have much of a winter here in Phoenix, I have noticed a definite drop in mileage as we have dropped into the low 40s over the last few days. Nothing drastic but my long term mileage has dropped by a half a MPG over just the last 2 days driving the exact same route. I'm sure it is the result of the engine running more to keep it up to the proper operating temps. -
I found the sticker with the code in my 2011 FFH in a similar position as others have described. It is on the bottom of a black box above the brake pedal. Looks like some type of wiring harness.

I've had as high as 765 on my "miles to E" indicator, with my long term mileage now as 42.3. I have the advantage of a very flat commute in warm Phoenix. Click the link below for a photo. http://www.fordfusionforum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=960

Ok, I found them. They are unbelievably hard to find. The one on the left is a son of a you know what and was a knuckle buster. Now that I know where they are I see you can just put a long screwdriver in the slot they cut in the cover just below the speaker to get them open.

I looked at the diagram earlier and still can't find the releases. Behind and above the two side speakers there is a big black bolt sticking through, and just behind that a bronze colored metal wall. There's nothing else up there. I guess I'm just not going to find it or they are not on my car.

Eneg, can you give me a description or pictures of those levers? I have the 11 FFH and looked in my trunk tonight and swear I do not have those levers. I pulled the black flexible cover back from around the speakers in the trunk and still can't find them.

so who's been driving like a grandma, ever since getting this car?

I am definitely obsessed with getting the highest possible mileage. This car makes it so easy. I had to laugh because I find myself also going around corners faster so I don't have to slow down. My long term is up to almost 43 mpg and today I filled up and had 765 miles to empty. I'm sure this isn't a record, but as I learn how to drive it better I have gone from 688 to 725 to 765 miles to empty just over the last 3 tanks. -
The 2011 has a newer version of the stereo with the HD radio that the 2010 does not have........if that is something of concern for you.

My 11 FFH almost always stays near the midpoint on the battery gauge. I now have my long term mileage up to 41.9 mpg, so it appears that is the optimal way for it to work. I now have almost 3,500 miles and the ONLY time the battery was ever full was when I drove down a 5 mile mountain grade at 70 mph. The battery kept charging and charging as I was coasting until it was full. The engine never shut off because of the speed I was going. I think the cutoff is 46 mph that the engine will always run.

I filled up yesterday and as I pulled into the station the indicator said "0 miles to emply." I drove 626 miles on that tank and it took 15.5 gallons to fill. That means I still had 2 gallongs left. At the 41 mpg I am getting I could have driven 80 more miles and got 706 miles from that tank. When I filled up the indicator said 676 miles to E.

I have the 11 FFH that has HD standard. I really like it as you can hear a better sound quality when the HD kicks in. When you tune to a station you get the analog version first, then after a few seconds the orange HD lights up and you can hear the difference. Just like HD TV, the HD radio, at least for now, does not have the range of analog. I took a trip out of town a couple of weeks ago and about 60 miles away most of the HD disappeared but the radio seamlessly went back to analog which I carried up to 90 or so miles away. I assume it will be the same as with HDTV as when the analog eventually shuts off they can boost their HD signal to get the same range as they used to with analog. Anyone know if there is any set date for radio to switch to digital as they did for TV. I assume if there is it would be many years away considering how few have the new digital radios and how many analog radios are out there.

Is your hybrid loud when you are accelerating hard?
Davidoo replied to runutzzzzz's topic in General Discussion
Maybe they did do something for the 2011s. I've had mine two weeks so far and yesterday we took it up to the northern part of the state up and down some steep grades on the interstate. I kept the cruise control on 70 going up a 6 mile steep grade. For anyone who has been to Arizona, this is on I-17 northbound. You go up about 3,000 feet in only 6 miles or so. The engine got up to 3000 to 3500 RPM a couple of times and I did hear a louder hum from under the hood, but absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. This was by far the highest it has been pushed because all of my previous driving had been around town and I was taking it easy also for the first few hundred miles. And the best thing about it going up hill with the hybrid transmission is no annoying downshifting all the time. My other car is a Jaguar and if I try to climb that same grade at 70 MPH it will constantly dowshift every quarter mile or so which gets annoying over 6 or 7 miles. The Fusion went up the hill as smooth as silk and the speed never varied off of 70. By far the smoothest, quietest car I've ever owned. -
The color grows on you even more the longer you have it. I have had people come up to me in the parking lot saying they like the car and the color. It is cool when you have the paper license tag on it as everyone knows it is new!
