  1. Hi AptosDriver. I'd say it's elegantly too simple. The first thing that hit me is how home-brew it all sounds. I bet over at ecomodder.com you can find somebody that wants to replace their torque convertor with a big electric motor... In the Hyundai the traction motor only charges the traction battery during braking or engine powered driving. When the internal combustion engine (ICE) is disconnected from the transmission it is disconnected from the traction motor too. So Hyundai has a belt driven generator running off the ICE to help recharge the battery when the ICE is not powering the wheels. It seems like there could be times when the traction motor is moving the car, maybe in stop and go traffic, and the ICE is charging the battery through its generator, rather that actually moving the car. Also, estimated mpg for the city cycle is lower than for highway must mean that Hyundai doesn't have regeneration really worked out yet. -mort
  2. The site is checking for referrer, you can go here then scroll down to report 332 and click on 332 see the abstract. From there click the link for the PDF. I don't think Ford offers a Passive Keyless Entry system, so it's merely interesting to me. -mort
  3. Hi Aptos, The FFH hybrid system is pretty similar to the Camry. The 2010 and later models are uniquely Ford, the same system is used in the Escape hybrid. But still similar to the Toyota design. The Ford Escape hybrid went on sale in 2004, so I'd say Ford has enough years experience in hybrid service. I think Camry sales started low too, after all, over 4 years they've sold 167,000, about 42,000 a year average. That said, if you check priuschat.com, about once a week somebody complains that their Toyota dealer doesn't understand their Prius, and there are millions of those. I mean it will be a long time before you can be confident that any dealer, much less independent will have experience and expertise in any hybrid. But... I have a Fusion Hybrid and expect my dealer to be able to fix anything that goes wrong. -mort
  4. Another teaser month see sirius.com -mort
  5. Hi Joe, Well, it's the 2010 manual, includes the hybrid, but it certainly misses some later model year changes. The mirror stuff refers to the Sync microphone in the mirror. My mike is in the headliner. I looked at my mirror and I can't see any way to get the tool in the top either. I hope somebody else knows how. And if you figure it out let me know. -mort
  6. Hi FFHdriver, The knot of spaghetti with the triangle notation is part number 9A228 called "Fuel Vapor Tube And Valve." That's on the fuel tank I didn't find any other vapor valve. -mort
  7. Hi rfruth, It's called the Vapor Canister by Ford. What's inside? Check out the Ford parts manual and look under fuel system and then storage. -mort
  8. I bet it would hold a ton of usb flash drives. I have a collapsible umbrella tucked in mine. -mort
  9. Hi Joe, I've never removed a Ford mirror with the tool, so I can't help. Here are a couple pages from the service manual. The auto-dimming mirror takes the tool in the top of the bracket and slides up and away. For the standard mirror the tool goes in the bottom and the mirror slides down and away. Really not much help, sorry. -mort
  10. Hi Oman, This is great... but your use of MG1 and MG2 are reversed from the convention seen here. I'd wished they had used transmission and traction. -mort
  11. Hi Joe, Google "Ford mirror removal tool". For the automatic dimming mirror the tool goes in the top, for the manual dimming; from the bottom. -mort
  12. Hi AlexInTO, Tasca shows the 2010 bumper cover for about $350. -mort
  13. Hi mydodgers88, My FFH (12000 mi) has always made a noise maybe like you describe, a whistle or whine. Highway speed on smooth road. I think it is the tires. I think it is more noticeable on a slight right turn. -mort
  14. Hi Mike, It is a big deal, but the car companies keep it all secret. But see Forbs and The Philadelphia Bulletin Which covers the same ground at Ford. -mort
