They were mp3's being burned to disc, not dvd.

I gave up. I installed my aftermarket JVC head unit after too much frustration with the factory stereo. That worked fine, and for an extra $120 I could have also bought the adapter to work with the steering wheel controls. But I didn't buy that. By the time you guys are done experimenting with different cds, you will find that it just won't work. My husband works for a body shop and they were doing front end repairs on an '06 fusion. The shop just ordered the whole front clip. So my husband took the stereo from that and put it in my car. That one works perfectly fine! I would suggest that if you want the factory look, go to a scrap yard and pick up a stereo. I asked a Ford dealer how much a new stereo would be and would have run me about $400 + shipping from the states into Canada. From a scrapyard they were about $50-$70. So you can try your luck with a different used one. If you don't necessarily want the factory look, I suggest just relieve your frustrations and buy an aftermarket stereo.

I just picked up my 2006 Fusion last week. The cd/mp3 player reads regular "factory" cds great. However, the mp3 cds that I always played in my other car on an aftermarket stereo will not play in my fusion's mp3 cd player. The player tries to read them for what seems like an eternity and then spits it out and says its a 'bad disc'. If I keep trying the disc, eventually it DOES read it, but very poorly, like it will play about 2 seconds of a song and then freeze, then just glitches. I have tried a few different brands of cds, all the same result. On a few occasions it has played the discs ok, with minor gitches here and there, but after a few songs it starts freezing again. Another thing I noticed is that I made a cd with about 86 songs on it, the player will start back at track 1 after only 40 or so songs. Has anybody else had this problem? Please help I'm desperate, I have an hour+ commute to work and another hour home everyday!!! I need good tunes!!!
