I went ahead and put a wrap of vinyl upholstery tape around the stems and it works well and appears to be holding up ok. I eventually want to take them apart and see why they fail like that though

I too have the droopy visors. I am considering a wrap of duct tape in the area exposed when you extend them. On top of that, the visor clips seem stretched and dont hold them in place. Is that common?
