  1. Personally I couldn't possibly work around not having both my F150 and the FFH. One could not replace the other (until I can put the plow on the FFH and go to Costco for both home and office). I think the seats are far superior in the F150. Of course, the FFH gets great milage and use it when the truck is not necessary. I am fortunate to be able to have both at the same time. They have very different functions. If I was forced to pick one, I would replace the trucks engine with the FFH system!
  2. Got a set for my F150 (for plowing) but still haven't installed. I have read that they work great at keeping the ice off but not for removing a large buildup. Easy install but just can't find the time when it's warm enough out. (I hate working on the cars when its below 30 degrees)
  3. Weathertech does not have the cargo mat and I placed a request for them to notify me when they do have it 7 or 8 months ago. I got the mat through AutoAnything (make sure you sellect hybrid) and it fits well. Be aware that it smells VERY BADLY. It took 5 months for the smell to lessen. You will smell it in the cabin especially in hot weather. Some have tried baking soda (don't know if it worked for them) and washing (didn't work for me). It is a strong plastic/rubber/chemical smell that some people may find highly objectionable.
  4. 1 year and 3 months since last update makes me feel abandoned when it comes to sync.
  5. Isn't it great that Ford has essentially abandoned us early adopters of their high tech car? Sure they will fix it but there were promises about updates and new applications.
  6. There hasn't been an update for the sync since 09 and that didn't do much for the system as it was. Does anyone know of an update coming since 3.1? I thought there was going to be some apps available for use with the sync system (the system that came with 2010 models, not the new ones). I keep checking at the sync site every few months and nothing shows up.
  7. nothin' a little duct tape and touch paint wont fix!! Glad your O.K. Car is made to collapse so you don't take the hit. Time to break in another new one!
  8. How did you glean your excellent instructions from the worthless instructions that came with the key??? Thanks for the excellent write-up. Key programmed perfectly first time.
  9. This is not April but this must be your idea of an April fools joke
  10. So you're going to attach the Fix a Flat to the flat tire without getting out of the car? Makes sense to me
  11. Wow, I would not put that junk in any tire that has TPMS. And as far as saving gas by removing the spare...sounds silly to me. To save what? $10 over the time you use this car? You just spent that on the Fix a Flat can!
  12. Yes, I use snow tires on wheels that have no TPMS. Light stays on all the time. No problem. Just check tire pressure monthly at least. (should do this anyway). I don't trust the standard tires for the winters in CT. I am putting TPMS on the snow tire wheels for my new Vette. The tires are so "thin" you would have a hard time telling if it is flat but the FFH tires will be obvious.
  13. The rattle my car developed seemed to come from the front passenger seat. One day I shut the sun roof cover and the rattle stopped! I have an appointment next week for the dealer to fix (these rattles are covered under warrantee). All of the rattles that are mentioned above are more than likely a warrantee issue (not the glasses!!). This car is very solid and shouldn't make these noises. (Even my Lexus had an annoying dash rattle that was fixed by dealer). I was waiting to bring the FFH in for any other issue and just add on the rattle but I just haven't had any issues!
  14. When you say the alarm is understandable, do you mean the alarm is necessary? (ie: should we be alarmed when we see the blue smoke, and why?)
  15. I had to accelerate "pedal to the metal" style the other day while getting on the highway in front of a tractor-trailer. I produced a large blue cloud of smoke (from the back of the car of course) which was a little disconcerting. No error lights on the dash. I'm not going to worry about it now. Could be the atkinson cycle engine??
  16. My left elbow is sending me love letters since I installed the padded arm rest on the center console. I got it from AutoSport (only place that has one) and it doesn't look that bad (my elbow doesn't care what it looks like). Their small size is perfect for the center armrest and is fairly well made. The fusion standard armrest is worthless. I considered having my custom interior guy build up the arm rest but this will do just fine. On another topic. I am tired of having to readjust everything (especially the seat) after someone else uses the car. It takes me a while to get it back where I wanted it (maybe I'm too picky). I can't believe that the 2010 didn't come with a memory seat. Anyone look into installing a memory (for seat only) switch?
  17. Inquiring minds want to know (I can' believe no one has asked). How effective is your noise reduction attempt? Yes, the engine sounds terrible when pushed. I rarely do accelerate hard (once in a while when entering a highway and once to show my kids the thrashing sound).
  18. No dealer that I know has the ability to do a "road force balance" that requires a special balancer (Hunter GSP 9700). Check your local tire stores and ask if they do it. It is getting very popular in the last few years because of its ability to balance difficult cars. It puts a load (like the road) on the tire as it is being balanced and can make a significant difference in the end result. I had a BMW 7 series a few years ago that was very sensitive to tire/wheel balance (as BMWs typically are) and the road force balance was the only way to get rid of the front end shake at highway speeds. A defective tire can also cause this.(broken belts) and this will often not show up on regular balancing. Alignment will not cause what you are feeling. Good luck
  19. Ambulance chaser in a different type of suit. Just increases my respect for the profession.
  20. I traded in a LS460 for the FFH and it had power folding mirrors. I had them set to fold when the car locked (obviously when outside) This will save getting them hit it the parking lot. Happens a LOT. Also, Folding mirrors (power or not) will save having them snap off if the mirror touches anything while moving or again, in a parking lot if someone hip-checks the mirror while walking by it will fold either back of forward. I have come back to my car a few times over the years with the mirror tripped.
  21. I purchased the 2 OEM parts from a Ford dealer on line. They are not aftermarket parts; they are sold as replacement parts for factory installed parts. Your local dealer can order them and install them. Someone on this site (another post) had it done for $300 installed. I refuse to pay local dealer parts prices and saved $100. However, I can't find out how to install them. I even purchased the complete Fusion tech CD off of e-bay (great deal for $24.00) but after 1+ hours of searching, I can only find a close-up pic of engine plug already installed and can't even tell what part of the engine it is!! I assume it is in a freeze plug but can't be sure. No instructions on how to "replace a defective" heater on the CD. I would love someone who has one installed (purchased car with it) to take a couple of pics of where it is installed and how the cable is routed to the front of the car. My mechanic says ford won't give him access on how to work on the car without him paying oodles of dough (which will only give him Fusion info). If all else fails, I will have the stealer install it before next winter. It will make a huge difference on MPG with a warm engine in the winter. I drive 9 miles to work and the EV just kicks in (if at all) the last 1/2 mile of the drive. My MPG dropped to 32 over the winter.
  22. If your new 18's are a performance summer tire and you live in snow area, use the OEM wheels for snow tires. That will give you great traction in the winter, save milage on your 18's and make rotating tires a breeze! (2X yearly) I did this (but I live north of Va) and didn't bother with TPMS for the winter wheels.
