  1. I am in the market to tint my tail lights. I mainly don't like the chrome around the red part. My car being black, the chrome sticks out. I have seen people tint their tail lights black and it doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather lightly smoke them. Just to tone down the chrome. I would like to put a dark tint around just the chrome part and leave the red uncovered. But I feel uneasy about my ability to do so, so maybe a whole light smoke will work. When I looked around I saw people writing in about how "cling-tint" will destroy the lights. Causing spider cracks and everything else. I want to use that Laminex tint. Will that cause the same damage? I need something that isn't permanent. I want to have the ability to take the tint off later in time if I choose to. Is this possible without damaging the lights? I'd much appriciate the feedback. Also, where can I find really good tint to do this? Not really looking to hear about "legal/illegal" side of it. Thanks!
  2. Great! I found these on ebay too and ordered them yesterday. I think they look sharp as hell. How are they to install? And I want to change out the amber bulb with a white one. What kind of bulb does it take? I don't wanna hear anything about it being illegal or whatever.
  3. A bitch you say? Well, guess I will have to find out. Thanks for letting me know. I still wish to know what bulb is used so I could put white ones in. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for your input.
  4. I am looking to upgrade my existing amber side-marker lights to these new clear ones that I have found on ebay. I am really interested in the clear look on the side to blend with the rest of the car. My question is, has anyone had experience with this modification? Is it an easy removal/install? Is the fit and finish clean? Any responses will surely help. Also, the lenses come with amber lights so that when they are "on" they will still be a little amber. Anyone know what kind of bulbs these are? I'd like to buy some white ones and I can't seem to find my owner's manual. Thanks! Link - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-07-08-...sQ5fAccessories
  5. Wow... all these responses are great. I really like those LED light bulb replacements! But I think Don has got it right on the head! It is so true! I never thought about it like that but it all makes sense. They are DRL's. So obvious but I totally missed it. Amazing! And yes, I like the amber DRL much better then the dimmed headlamps. I just remembered seeing a Toyota Tundra with REALLY bright amber lights. Go figure. Thanks sooo much. Great insight and very appreciative of the feedback that I recieved. Adam
  6. Tell me more... are those LED's have to be custom installed? When are you going to do this? I must see pictures. The Caddy's use LED's in the tail lights but the parking lamps on the front aren't.
  7. Thanks for the reply. Great answer but bad news. Couldn't ask for more. The car is an '06 but I extended the coverage for over 100,000 miles for an additional $3000. Figured it was a Ford and wouldn't make it past 50k miles without major problems. Due to previous experience. Hope the Fusion lasts longer. I keep hearing Ford is making better cars every year. Thanks again for your thorough response. Still, sad news.
  8. I am looking to get a nice bright but rich look to my parking lamps. I really like the look of the new Cadillacs. They have really rich amber parking lamps. Although, even being rich, they are really bright. I know that they become brighter when the turn signal is on, but I want them to be brighter and richer while just running the parking lamps. Is there a different bulb that I can use to obtain this safely? When my lights are on, they seem washed out and dull. Especially next to a Caddy. Maybe this is because they use a bright bulb that is behind an amber lens while the Fusion uses a amber bulb in a clear housing. I may be poking at a stupid and unattainable fix. Question: Want a richer and brighter look to my parking lamps. What bulb could I use to do this safely? Thanks!
  9. I am just thrilled with my car. Having the ability to run the fog lights with just the parking lights is great. Most cars from my experience only allow you to use the fog lights when the headlights are in use. That being probably because it is illegal to drive after sunset with just the fogs. Now, my question is... Is there a way to run the fog lights with the parking lights on WITHOUT the keys being in the car? I would think that my car's fog lights turn off when I pull the keys out so there is less drain on the battery. However, I would really like to be able to leave my parking lights and fog lights on without the keys being in the ignition. As trite as it sounds, I really like the look of walking into a store real quick just to walk out and see my gorgeous Fusion waiting for me with fog lights shining! When I had a Contour SVT I had to re-wire the lights so that the car "thought" the headlights were on so that I could run the fogs without the headlights. Is there a similar way with the Fusion? If so, how? Question: Want to run my fog lights WITHOUT the keys in the ignition. How can I do this? Thanks!
