I guess i can count my blessings that 1) I did it and not one of my kids. 2) It was relatively minor. Guess I need to get some touch up paint now. I was just out washing my FFH for the second time since picking it up. I got it May 21st. Well, I did the stupidest thing... I had the windshield wipers up, and forgot. Then while I was drying the car, I popped the hood to dry around the edges, and hit the wipers!!! ARG One small scratch on the hood crease near the passenger side wiper blade!!! :banghead:

Excellent, thank you! I'm not sure if I'll do it, but that is great info! Reason being is that the current plan is for my wife's Explorer and she is talking about trading it in this year or next. But I may do it for my new FFH, after the complimentary subscription runs out in November. Here is what I saw: I am currently on the mostly music plan. This plan is not offered as a lifetime sub. No problem. So I checked the Sirius everything plan. It did offer lifetime, for $399.99. I don't know why the difference from what you saw. Then I looked at the Family friendly plan, and it has lifetime for $429.99. So, the moral is to check out all the plans if your seriously serious about Sirius, and don't just assume they are all the same.

I searched the Sirius website looking for the lifetime plans, but didn't find them. Could you give a old man an assist? :)

Before you go, get a good idea what your trade in is worth. Check Kelley Blue Book. Check craigslist to get an idea what others are asking in terms of price for models similar to your car. If you do order, try to sell your trade in your self, you'll have several months to wait, and lots of time to sell it. You can get several thousand more selling it your self.

That is a bummer, not being able to Ala Carte. I only listen to a couple stations, so having >100 choices is just silly to me. In my wifes explorer we just signed up for the music only package, the price averages out to $9.99 a month. I'll probably do the same in six months for my FFH. So for roughly $17 a month I can have music only and traffic and weather. Don't so much care about weather but I love the the traffic feature. My entire route, of roughly 25 miles is shown, I almost want there to be a road blockage so I can route around it... ;) hahaha just kidding.

Really, 0% financing on the FFH? Where is here? We don't have that offer here in the Seattle / Tacoma area of Washington state.

Yes, and what a great week it has been too! :shift: I love the car rfruth! I have driven 300 miles, still over a half tank of gas, and averaging 41.7 mpg. It is such a pleasure to drive that my normal driving technique, if you can call a lead foot a technique, has changed to speed limit driving and casual. The seats are so comfortable that I don't get a sore back at all any more on the way to and from work. And the only complaint my wife made to me the other day is that when she drives it, it makes her want to drive to make the leaves grow. She loves cars with beefy V8's, but she really likes my car too! The handling in tight turns is so nice. The acceleration power is more than adequate. Just as a reminder, in my mind I compare everything to my last car, a 2007 Camry hybrid. But this 2010 FFH is a luxury car compared to the Camry.

Hi Nick, i have the black leather in my 2010 FFH also, but nothing like that is happening to me or my wife. We carpool to work in it everyday for a hour each way. And neither of us are having a problem. She usually is more sensitive to things like that than I am too. If you really suspect it is something in the leather, go see your doctor. Especially if it is painful. If it does turn out to be something in the batch of leather you have in your car you will want that documented medically. Seat covers are a good work around, but getting a rash from your new car just isn't right. Rob

I installed Sync 3.0 last night on my 2010 FFH, with Nav, and I can confirm that the Directions, Business Search, Traffic, and Weather features do not work if you have Nav installed. And when I log in to the Syncmyride.com website, the setup page for those services has a statement that these features are not compatible with my car in big red letters.

Hi rfruth, I wish I had thought to ask that question when I bought my FFH. It wouldn't have changed my mind, but you do have me curious. But I will ask when I go in for my first oil change. If you ask it, let us know what they say. It is interesting if Ford will train the dealer maintenance folks, or expect them to learn how to maintain a hybrid through trial and error, or through manuals only.

The A/C compressor is driven by an electric motor. I love this because it can be a hot day, and air conditioning on full blast, and you experience no loss of power from the engine. Yes, your battery will deplete faster if your in EV mode, but when you push on the accelerator, it goes just like the A/C was off.

Well, I see your from Texas, so take this for what it is worth, and know I am from Washington state. Things might be different. When I picked up my car last Thursday (5/21), here is what happened. We negotiated saleing price, which is based on: 1) car cost, including delivery charge ($725). If you are getting $500 above invoice, that sounds good. How much below MSRP is that out of curiosity? 2) Taxes 3) Title and plates 4) Document Fee's (I think this was $50) 5) Trade in value for my old car 6) Period of my loan 7) Interest rate I was eligible for based on a number factors, but it is mostly based on my credit score I might have forgotten something, I feel like i did forget something, but i don't know what... After all that is agreed on your sign a few little papers that just say you agree to the negotiated deal. Then before you take possession of the car you go see the finance guy. He will go over your deal with you, and then he will try to sell you these things at a minimum: 1) Extended Service Plan. For the premium service plan, with a $100 deductible, it was going to cost be an extra $1,700 approximately. 2) Premium Maintenance Service package which includes free oil changes, brake work, 30,000 mile/60,000 mile service, etc... This would have cost me an extra $1,900. 3) GAP Insurance. This is the one I always get if I am financing over 50% of the cars value. this protects you if your car is totaled or stolen and not recovered. What happens is the insurance company will cover you for the blue book value of the car. If you owe more, than that is your responsibility. I had a co-worker who totaled her car and was upside down by $5,000... That $5,000 was her problem. The GAP insurance was quoted at $599 4) Car protection package, up here they call it the Northwest Protection package. This includes a clear coat to protect the paint from the environment, rust protection, and scotch guard for the seats. i didn't ask for the price, I didn't want it. 5) Lo-Jack. They push this one so hard that it must be a big profit maker for them. If you don't know, Lo-Jack is a tracking device they put on your car and register it with the police. If your car is stolen you call the police and they can track it down. I didn't ask the price. If you purchase any of these, you have a choice to add it on to the selling price of your car, or pay cash for it. It is your choice. If you think you want any of these, or don't, make sure you know before you go in. Because the finance guy will use pressure and fear to try and get you to get these add-ons. I don't think they are bad, just how much do you want to pay and is it worth it to you? After you sign papers with the finance guy, you walk out, get your hand shook a million times, and get your keys (make sure you get both sets, you are entitled to them, even if you are going to be the only driver) and then you will drive away with a huge smile! :) Enjoy! I read into this when I purchased my first hybrid, and from what I understand this concern is overcome several ways. The factors that contribute to the fact that engine wear is more at start up is not because the engine is starting, but due to the lack of lubrication in the wear surfaces. When a engine is off the oil drains into the oil pan, and it takes second for the oil to reach pressure and flow as it should. In a hybrid engine the oil filter has a back flow value that prevents oil from draining, so that lubrication pressure is restored nearly instantaneously. Also, when a engine is cold, bearings are tighter, friction is higher, and there is more wear. In a hybrid, the engine will not cycle off until a minimum temp is reached.

I'd start with talking to friends or friends of friends who just bought cars in the last six months. The opinion of people who have experience with a dealership goes a long ways. Ordering or buying off the lot is really a personal choice, and you will have to decide how long you want to wait. I ordered my FFH on 3/8/09, and it was delivered 5/21/2009. If you can wait that long, you can get exactly what you want with no compromises. But if that is to long, then getting a car off the lot, or if nothing comes close to what you want, the dealer can also get a car from another dealership for you. But, we are talking about the FFH, these cars are not sitting on dealer lots very long. But you may get lucky, no hurt in visiting and finding out what they can do. One last bit of advice: Don't ignore your gut. If your at a dealership and something doesn't seem right to you, don't buy a car there. There are always other dealerships out there, and if you take your time and visit a couple you can pick the one you feel most comfortable at. I've had salesman and their sales manager lie to my face before, I didn't 100% know it at the time, but I felt like something as not right. So I went to another dealership, and found out the truth. You can guess where I bought my car.

I just received my 2010 FFH, and the factory Sirius radio sounds really really good! I'd have to ask the same question as iNexxFear asked, is this a new issue or one you have always had since you got the car?

That is awful about the door! I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure the new door will be a perfect match. But I would just ask to make sure that they won't record it on CARFAX that the car was dented and door replaced. I wouldn't want a new car with a accident on the CARFAX report from before you took delivery. I can just hear the future conversation now... "I'd like to trade in my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid for a 2017 Ford Hydrogen Plugin..." "Well sir, your trade in will $5,000 due to the accident shown on CARFAX." "But you dealership was the accident...." Anyways, I'd ask. Your delivery dates look real close to mine. Ordered 3/8/2009. Order Confirmed 3/11/2009. VIN assigned 4/2/2009. Built 4/29/2009. Arrived at train depot in Kent, WA, 5/15/2009. Delivered to dealers lot in Puyallup, WA, (and me) 5/21/2009.

I believe there are at several reasons that winter driving hurts the gas mileage so much. The first is obvious of course, the colder the temps, the more more gas is burned until the engine and drive train heat up and negate out the added friction from cold grease and just tighter joints. The cold also contracts the air in the tires and lowers tire pressure, adding friction to the drive. The second reason is that fuel mixtures are different in the winter than in the summer. Every car I have owned gets worse mileage in the winter when the gas is oxygenated more, and I also believe they had a compound that resists moisture accumulating in the gas tanks. Once spring arrives and the gas mixtures change, I see an immediate change in mileage that isn't always equivalent to the outdoor temperature.

Your welcome fsb99. Other info that may be interesting is that when I received my DORA on 3/12/2009 My Priority was 11. The dealership called me on 4/2/2009 to say the VIN was assigned. On 4/4/2009 the dealership called to say they had a FFH on the lot, loaded with the 502A options just like I ordered, and said if I'd like to see it and test drive it to hurry down. Needless to say I was in the car and on my way there within 30 minutes. After the test drive I asked if there were any new updates on my car, and they checked and printed me the updated DORA. That DORA showed my priority had been bumped up to 1, and the build week was 4/27/2009. I don't know if that is normal to bump the priority to a 1 once it is scheduled to build, but I was definitely excited! :headspin:

Hi Carnivore, I also have had the Camry Hybrid since it was first showed up in Dealer show rooms 3 years ago, and I also have a FFH on order. I only got to test drive a FFH last weekend. So I read your post with a lot of interest to see if you noticed the same things I did. I didn't notice much difference in acceleration either. I'm the type of driver that usually pulls out in front of most (not all) other drivers from a green light. So acceleration is something I care about, and I felt it was about the same. I do love the technology in the FFH. I told my wife after getting back into the TCH that I felt like I just stepped back in time after driving around in a FFH. (She just laughed at me). Other things I noticed: The seats were much more comfortable. It took me a while before I could get comfortable in my TCH, but I finally got the seats adjusted to the sweet spot. But I really liked the comfort of the FFH seats right away. The motor to engine transition is much less noticable in the FFH. I kinda considered myself a experienced hybrid driver, and thought I'd know the difference. But I couldn't tell without looking at the instrument cluster. That may change as I learn the car better when I own a FFH, but for now I can just say I am impressed. I wish I could have spent more time going over the FFH with a fine tooth comb, but I guess that can wait until I get mine. Some questions I came away with were room in the trunk, I like you said that the FFH has more space. The capless gas fill. I forgot to look at that, but it just causes me concern because that seems like it will permit dust and debris to settle there and get into the tank and shorten the life of the fuel filter. The navigation system functions. I have nav in my TCH and so will my FFH. I use it a lot and I hope it works as good or better. There is more, but all questions will be answered next month, when my new FFH arrives!
