  1. sorry for the long break. Build, Buying a home, fusion got put on the back burner. The set really works well with 2008 and up. ford has all the wiring for 2008, a new way of build the car up. having the wiring or most of the connectors availible. the wiring diagram for 2007 is way off with out factory nav. only 2008 has most everything. and YOU MUST get the radio programmed with as built data or have a dealer reflash the unit with everything you have in it. they can find a similiar vehicle and flash that as built data to the car,2008-09 only. 2007 requires a wire harness upgrade the kit is about 2000 installed from most of the dealer network upfitters.
  2. no sync does work. that is one of the key features for our cars. the other thing is the 2008 model year. you need more parts for 2006-2007 cars. wiring harness and more parts. I did my car due to the fact i work at a dealer and can do all the work. sync works even better. the poineer procressor is very well work the upgrade. the sound is amazing . and i have had a few systems. its not thx in sound processing but it is very clear and loud at volume. the base radio people need not do the upgrade with out speakers unless you intend on just using the nav system for what it is. even the factory 6x9 subs seem louder and more punch to them. but as all good things go i had to take it out due to the radio screen backlighing and nav dvd would not read. thank goodness for insurance. will get back another unit and try again. i just was not willing to spend 1300 for the unit through ford. thats my cost beacuse i work at a dealer.
  3. I have upgraded to factory NAv in my 2008 fusion se with 2.3l and manual transmission. Ok . first and foremost you need the nav radio with 3 connectors most come with it, gps antenna, nav dvd, and steering wheel switch for nav control. Installed all parts works great with the radio. worth the upgrade in sound quality bass is alot harder hitting. its takes about 2 hours and its better if you can get a radio that is preprogrammed to your car. the pmi does not work due to as built \data is diff for each set up. for example sync nav and audiophile is different for sync and audiophile. that as built address is diff. it is doable with out programming to you car but you must have a ford scan tool to do it with and get as built for your type of setup. most nav radio will work but it most be 2008 part numbers mine was 8wat-18k931-ca radiopart number. but it really came from a 2008 mkx. the steering wheel control is for a nav equiped vehicle you must have the it is not an option. will post part number later. Now to the kinda part. it seems the radio was damaged in shipping so the radio back light is not working. so i have to use a outside light to see the screen. other than that. the nav dvd might also be to blame with the drop. did not look at the box was so happy to finally get the radio and kit. i started looking after i realized i had a problem and sure enough the box was damaged and it even said fragile handle with care. glad it was insured.
  4. what does you factory antenna look like. if it looks like a fin with a small antenna coming from it then you have one less thing to worry about. and if so you might be in luck. ford started wiring 08 with a general harness if equiped with certain options. for example. we have sync and a mic in the mirror. well you have 3 plugs in the back of the radio. those same plugs work for a nav sysyetem just the radio get reprogramed to your car. sirus should be alittle easier i will check the only manual for what is required for sirus radio.
  5. can= control area network for fords. well vss is broadcast over this network from a few palces. one being abs wheel speed sensor 4 sensors all working into a inferred vss signal.
  6. yea . i have been really busy tearing my own car apart looking for the difference for none nav cars. if you have audiophile or atleast sync with the mic in the mirror you should be able to just purchase a unit gps antenna and have if flashed for your car. i just purchased my nav unit and parts will post ALL PART numbers as they are and how it will work. found out that the 2008 cars and newer will be wired mostly the same to save cost on different main harness. small parts would have to be changed. too 2 hours of hard looking and alot of reading and understanding that ford made most of the cars somewhat compatable. but you must have the mic in the mirror aka sync equiped cars. none sync will not work due to parts may not be in vehicle may need more parts example, steering wheel switch and Mirror kit for mic, wiring to steeringwheel if it does not have volume control new harness from clockspring to acm. audio control module. etc. and thats just the beginning. it looks like the thx and audiophile people lucked out the most on the nav upgrade. and no it does not matter whether the car is a manual of auto. except for the rear view cam but thats not an option for our cars.
  7. Ok. this great, the factory nav will work with the sync system with the best. i have an 08, if you want all the parts and numbers you will need to make the swap. its all plug and p[lay but you have to replace a wire harness from the apim to a juntion under the center console, streering wheel switches for audio control. and add the gps antenna. i have all but the harness price. just buying piece at a time. also if you get the nav radio you will need a dealer to do a module upgrade takes about an hour. and you need to have the old radio to make it work. its called pmi with an upgrade.
  8. hey you have to remove the rear seat back and remove the c pillar upper trim. it takes about ten mins. but i work on them all day so it may take anyone not familiar alittle longer. be careful the push pins will sometimes come up an tear the rear parcel deck material. its cheap and breaks damages easily
  9. it will not work unless you have sync in the car. the factory input for non sync vehicles do not have the apim module. accessory protocol interface module
  10. correct the nav radio controls cd , sat and fm am dvd if you have that option.... well not in our cars but navigators . edge mkx..... non nav will not control cd or sat.
  11. without sync you might not beable to add the factory nav. there is a harness that runs front the sync to the radio. and the sterring wheel cotrol is different for the nav and sync. sync has a more toggles on the switch. and nav does not. you loose the media control button that sync has, say that audiophile system. nav takes over control of media. and it sucks it takes some getting used to saying certain words not as helpful nor does it do as much as sync
  12. yea its a type o. the part is for the gps antenna. i had the parts person look it up ay my dealer. the antenna is about 100 dollars depending on the parts department mark up from cost. the unit most dealers cannot order due to united audio is the contact that orders radios for my dealer.
  13. I just found a web site that i will probably purchase a kit from. it is mobilehid.com they even test the oher kits . i know that that can be alittle unfair but facts are facts. goggle each maker and read the reviews. the philips kit and the mobile hid are the only 2 that i think had mostly all possitive. even if they were not they still had good customer service for problems. hope this helps will update when i get the kit.
