  1. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself either, it's a pretty time consuming process. It's better to see a specialist. If it was just a routine oil change, then fine. I've been changing the oil myself on my Dodge Ram 2500 for years and no problems. The best oil for 5.9 Cummins is from Valvoline in my opinion.
  2. Probably the first thing I would do is change the oil and check all the filters. As of late on my Ford F-150 I learned how to change my own oil, so this is the first thing I would do. I have a 3.5 Ecoboost engine, but I can share with you instructions on how to change the oil on these engines, you can do it all yourself.
