HID's in the Fusion
mustang90 replied to fhartell's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Hey buddy, I have the exact problem. HIDs are 35W. They work fine till I start the car, then they kick off after a few seconds. Do you know who I could contact to get the same or similar resistors? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -
Sync issues with my ipod video
mustang90 replied to mustang90's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Sounds like the same problem I had. Tell them to replace the sync module. My dealer had to "diagnose the problem" with sync on the phone and apparently mine failed the test. Regardless, the replacement works perfect and I have not had a problem since. Try one of your friends' ipods or something too. Mine worked fine with a zune and the old ipods, just not my video. Good luck, post your outcome! -
Sync issues with my ipod video

So apparently sync can be a pain to get working, but once it does, it's pretty cool. Hopefully your problem gets fixed soon. And just to correct my last post, all (or as far as I can tell) my songs work with voice commands now. I was bored at work one day and the online pdf manual said to talk fast like you would normally talk... Sure enough, artists that it did not recognize before work. I guess I thought that talking slower would make it work better; not at all. I felt kinda dumb. Whatever, it works now, that's all that matters! -

I love everything about the car, the v6 has good power. My only issue all was with the sync. All the new cars being built now have updated versions of them so you'd most likely not have my problem, especially considering they're giving away an iphone with them. Iphones were having the same problem as me. Like I said in my last post, my ipod is still not working 100% but i'm working on it. My car worked flawless with a zune. Just right now it isn't seeing all of my songs on my ipod. I guess I'm not satisfied with sync overall right now. It works for answering my phone but wont load my phonebook (so you can tell it who to call). And it isn't really working properly with my fairly new ipod. I guess if I had the right phone and a media player that worked I'd have a better opinion of sync. -

UPDATE: Sync is replaced and no more USB REMOVED error!!!! My only issue now is that its not responding to voice commands to find certain artists. All the required information is entered for each file, but I can only call out a few artist names. I can manually select them by going thru the menu, but voice commands are being a pain is the ass for me right now. So I guess its sorta fixed. All I know is that my buddies zune worked better with my sync then any ipod ever did. Good luck everyone. If anyone wants my dealer's name / number let me know. -

I feel your pain man, when every commercial is on tv, I'm like "mine doesnt do that, or that, or that..." Well anyways, my car is at the dealer right now and I will have it back tomorrow afternoon. I'll post right away with my results. If everything is fixed and works properly I'll give you my dealer phone number so your dealer (or so you) can call them and ask about it. My dealer has been very good with trying to help me out and as soon as they had the go ahead from sync, they ordered the replacement module for me. My sync hasent worked properly since I bought the car at the end of last November. I'm ready for my sync to be fixed too. -

UPDATE: My car went into the dealer yesterday and sure enough they are going to replace the sync module. They said that the "sync hotline people" said that there is an ipod compatibility issue and that the sync modules in the cars being built now are different. Whether it is just software I dont know, but regardless, the one I'm getting replaced had an issue. Unfortuanatly they told me I'd have to come back next week to get it replaced because the part could not be delivered overnight. I guess they said they are in demand right now, go figure. I should have mine replaced by some time next week, I'll post when that happens with my results. Hopefully everything will work. Good luck guys and I'd recommend going to your dealers. Have them call sync, they know of the problem and will attempt to fix it. -
Sync issues with my ipod video

My 30gig is barely half full of music so disc space isn't a prob. I did have the disc space option on and then off and it didn't work either way. I got a call from some sync guy the other day and he said he was working with my dealership and basiclly wanted to replace my sync module. He seemed to think that replacing the module was a better idea than waiting for a new software release. I wish we knew what percentage of people have this problem because sync seemed to think that this is a very rare problem. Maybe it is just a bunch of defective sync modules; doesn't seem very likely though. That one guy in the edge forum got his replaced and it works fine now... I'll probably get mine replaced too I guess. I'll keep everyone updated on the results when and if it happenes for sure (I gotta call the dealer to schedule it in). -
Sync Customer Service Number 800-392-3673

No matter what time I call, I always get this "call back during normal buisness hours" message. I definatly am calling when someone should be there to answer. Is there a part of the menu other than the sync section to go to to complain? -

Thats interesting that you have this problem with the zune, I figured that any Microsoft product would have worked for sure. I should try my buddies zune to see if that works in my car. I'm currently making due with the line in... -
Sync issues with my ipod video

First of all, that is a canned message, second is that I already have an account there and Ford knows of the problem, mine specifically, they already have my vin # and phone numbers, so they should call or contact me somehow when there is a solution. This topic was created to try to figure out the problem (thinking it was possibly with my ipod), with me in the end having no success. Please get this issue fixed so that I can enjoy my Sync for longer than 40 seconds at a time. Also make it load the phone book from my Nextel i880 so I can use voice commands! Maybe that last one is a stretch, but it would be nice... -
Sync issues with my ipod video
mustang90 replied to mustang90's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Got all the genres setup, artist names w/o any symbols or anything crazy, and typed "none" for all my blank albums. Ipod started to play, but in the end still said the wonderful usb removed message. So I erased my ipod (after i backed it up), took off the use disc space option, and only put like two songs on it (to make sure some song wasn't the problem). Same result. I'm out of ideas... -
Sync issues with my ipod video

This is the factory stereo that supports ipods and zunes (and some other stuff too). About the keyspan cable, that is only needed if you have an old ipod or a mini. Those ipods dont transfer the audio through the usb for some reason and they need to be plugged into the cars lin in as well as the usb. That cable has both plugs. I ordered on but then returned it once I read that it was not needed for new ipods. Its a rip off too, like 50 bucks. CC89, as far as having all my artist info typed in, I'm not sure if I do. That is a good point considering that causes a problem with media on a flash drive missing information. I know i have most the info there (as far as artist and title), I will check into that and get back to you. Thanks for the suggestion. -
Sync issues with my ipod video
mustang90 replied to mustang90's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Ya, kinda sucks. I have one of those line in cables laying around the house somewhere but that kinda defeats the purpose of sync. So now my brand new i880 Nextel wont load the phone book (so voice command are worthless) and my ipod doesnt play (once again voice command are worthless). I guess I use sync to say play my damn usb flash drive and to just answer my phone. Whatever, hopefully they will come out with some kind of software upgrade. I'll let you guys know if Ford or the dealer calls me; they are supposed to as soon as they figure anything out (hopefully that isnt a long time). 08Explorer, let me know if you figure anything out. Talk to you later. -
Sync issues with my ipod video

Have you tried your original cable that came with your ipod? When I went to the dealer to drop my car off the other day, they said they called Ford and that Ford has heard of this problem, it’s not all that common, and that they have no idea what is wrong basically. We tried someone at the Dealership's ipod video (with my standard cable), it didn’t work. Then the next day (because I left my car there) they bought a new cable and tried it with a shuffle with it having the same problem. So, ya, kinda sucks but supposedly they (Ford) are working on the problem...ya, right. They didn’t say it was a prob with my car; they seemed to say that the problem was with certain ipods, go figure. They seem to think that someone’s ipod will work with my car, just not mine (or the two others we tried I guess). So I guess I either have to wait for some kind of fix or find someone with an ipod that works with my car and steal it… I’ll post again if I ever figure anything out. Guess I have to go buy a line-in cable for the time being. -

Sync issues with my ipod video
mustang90 replied to mustang90's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Battery is fully charged and there are no current updates for the Sync system (at least not for my car). The only thing that I can think of (aside from not having the exact firmware syncmyride.com says to have) is that I have the option (in itunes) turned on to enable disc use (let the ipod be an external hdd for data). I don’t have anything on it as far as data but maybe that option is making it be recognized as an ipod and a flash/disc drive??? Maybe there is a conflict between the two? That’s the only thing I can think of, and I didn't want to mess with itunes because my computer crashed and my old library is gone. I didn't want to jump to resyncing my ipod to my blank library. It definitely takes a while to scroll thru 5000+ songs to put on the 2000 or so that i want... Hopefully the dealer can help out today; they supposedly have some of the salesmen go to sync classes so they can answer questions. If anyone else has any other suggestions let me know, otherwise I'll post when I figure out what the problem was. Thanks! -
Hi guys, just picked up my new '08 SEL Fusion last week and I definatly love the car. The only problem I'm having is when I try to use my ipod with the usb port. When i first got the car, I was able to play audio through the usb from my ipod for about 30 seconds before I would consistantly get the "usb removed" message. I'm pretty sure all the menus worked, but it would only let me use it for less than a minute. After the usb removed message, I would have to reselect the usb input to get my music playing right where it left off, but only for another 30 seconds everytime. So then i tried to update my ipod to the latest firmware which is 1.2.3 (not sure which version I had before). Now when i plug it in I can't even get past the indexing. I also tried the master reset for the sync with the same results. I am also using the original usb cord that came with my ipod which syncmyride.com says should be fine. I figure I'll try to ask the dealer because I have to stop by there tomorrow anyways, but I thought I'd post my problem to see if anyone has had a similar situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Brian
