  1. If you can't fix it, document it.
  2. Granted we all bought a FFH for the promised gas mileage. But where I live there are enough hills that the cruise asks for enough power to cause the ICE to engage. The ICE has an obnoxious 'buzz' when its under load. I noticed in another forum someone had dynomatted his left fender, left inner fender, left firewall and some additional sound deadening inside. Me, I think it's the intake tube(s) and looking at dynomatting around them.
  3. I have a 2014 Fusion Hybrid. Not only is the engine loud when it is accelerating but the 'buzz' it makes is very obnoxious. So much so considering getting rid of it. I can mostly drown it out with the radio. However I am willing to do some noise dampening to it. I have not pinpointed the source, but thinking it's noise along the intake pipe. Considering using some dynomat or other sound deadening material to wrap in the intake pie with. Thoughts?
  4. Disconnected the ANC Microphones this Fternoon to elimiante the buzzing Had in the fron spekers after replacing the factory speakers. Tok longer thant the 15 minutes above but it still wasn't that hard Here are the steps for non-sunnroof models: 1. Pop the cover for the screws on the handles over the passenger and driver door. 2. Remove the handles (2 Screws). 3. Removed the handles in th rear, to allow the healiner to come down farther. 4. Remove the top piece of the B piller but poping the bottom part out first, using a socket to remove the screw at the bottom of the top portion of the B piller. You will need to prod and poke at the clips at the top, since they are in plastic. 5. Work the seat belt thru the slot in the B pillar to move the pillar out of the way. 6. The plug is about 3 to 5 inches from the microphone. Unclip the lock and unplug. I found one that was glued clip side down so had to pull the mic a bit to get to it. 7. Pop the headliner back in place. The metal clips from the top of he B pillar needed to be reformed a bit since they distorted when pulled out from the plastic holding them. 8. Work the seat belt back thru the piller and press the B pillar back into place, and put in the screwn. Reattach the bottom part of the B pille by snapping back into place. 9. In the rear, pull the headliner down the same way from the back window. 10. Reach in and unplug that microphone. 11. Pop the headliner back in place. 12. Reattach all pull handles. No more "rumbles" when the ICE kicks in. There might be a bit more road noise, but the ICE actually seems quieter now since the speakers no longer rumble when the ICE runs. (KUDOS to the original poster!)
  5. BTW, the xml file would only load to Ford's site using IE... Really?
  6. Most likely won't do this ever again, unless there is a MAJOR compelling reason to do so. Downloaded the file and unzipped as required. Formatted 2GB USB key with Fat32. As per instructions, remove all other USB devices, start car and inserted the USB key. Went into garage and did some other things while it was 'updating'. Came back after 20 mins to find that it 'had lost conneciton' to the usb drive. Reinserted it and the updated continued for a bit. Frustrated, I burned to another USB key and that seemed to go better. And 1.5 hours after starting, completed. Paired phone again, and shut carr off, went inside. 1. Some inidcaiton that the USB key is being read then the update actually being applied. There is lots of screen space for some pregress words instead of just a line. 2. The whole process is cludgy, the web site, has so much new HTTP Code that is bobbles and flips around with each new page loaded. 3. Could also use the screen to say what the update fixes or enhances for a better user experience. I am a tester of software and certianly did not test this mess.
  7. New to me 2014 Fusion Hybrid SE with 10K miles. When driving, with the empower display up, I noticed that the highest the blue box will go is to the second line on the display no matter how full the battery is. 1. Am I missing a setting 2. Is the Battery pack having issues 3. Normal operation. It just seems that a display that has 5 ticks is a waste when on EV mode. Anyway, learning the 'new fangled' technology and seeing if this is expected behavior, user knowledge, or a defect in the pack I do average about 39.0 MPG mostly commuting back and forth to work. Better downhill going than uphill returning. 0 to 60 and back. Attached a picture indicating where the battery never exceeds. PaulE
