Defective mileage in my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium
Iwejun replied to Jacksonjd01's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
I cant get over 38.2 mpg, if fact it has been 38.2 now for over a month no matter how I baby it. 42psi in tires, new air filter, full synthetic, when I get done with my drive it usually tells me I got mid 50's and a braking score from 96-98% efficient with no air on I cant figure it out. 38.2 ain't bad but I can usually get that on the highway without trying so after this last update it has me wondering. PS it's not the brakes stopping you it's the friction and grip of tire and 50 psi in a tire is not safe, wait for the hard stop on a cold rainy day you won't feel so smart. -
So I do the update yesterday everything goes fine, except when I go back to the download page to let whoever know that I updated it just goes to a page telling me what is on the update. I don't know if they got the word or not that I have updated, come on the owner pages could be done better IMO.

The additives that a station such as 7 11 uses is added at the terminal, the bulk truck buyer can specify what things to include in the gas whether it be detergents or whatever and that can determine the final price / gallon. I have a terminal nearby my place and I see all the major stations trucks lined up getting filled, so gas is gas until it's blended, and from what I understand ethanol is just a filler that will burn that way less petroleum product is used and is stretched further while the senator from a corn producing state get's to proudly stand in front of the ethanol plant and crow how he helps "the people". Ask a person who drives a flex fuel car and ask them how well the car runs on E85, chances are they'll tell you that is has less power and gets a lot less mpg, slower burn less bang.

I actually like my trunk's "battery bump"
Iwejun replied to usererror's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Went to link for isulated carrier and then shop local, $23.75 from local dealer and I had to laugh, they'll "only" charge me $11.75 to install it. :hysterical: -
Yes I was wrong in calling it a deaman pedal, and after 38 yr. two speeding tickets, neither exceeding 10 mph over and no vehicle accidents I'm glad that someone wants to school me in looking over the shoulder to see drivers side approaching traffic and implying that I am a slave to a very young and still experimental tech for cars. Btw, I am at 11,681 mi. of travel in this car since June 22nd of this year, lumbar could be better but this ICE is willing and able to travel interstate speeds all day except for some annoying rattle around the paasenger side A pillar it's all good.

Thank you for that, it was so obvious that I overlooked it.

Get the shark fin, just did a bunch of miles and saw the new Edge go past and it had a fin instead of the stick. I have no loss of HD signal even quite a ways outside of city. They can be found on Amazon you just need your color code and patience wading through their pages.

From June 22nd to July 21st I have been able to log some serious highway miles covering from Dallas to northern Wisconsin, back to Dallas, down to Fort Myers, Florida, back to Dallas and then back to northern Wisconsin. In total about 5600 miles and so I got to know the car pretty well, some things I've noticed. Dead man pedal is too narrow, I wear a size twelve shoe and I have to take it off or it gets uncomfortable over time on the out side of my foot, 3/4 of an inch wider would work. My drivers side seat cushion could be more plush we're talking runs of up to 12 hr driving sequences, had to be at these places in two days at most. Contrary to what I hear people say there is a blind spot on these cars, don't reply that I don't have the mirrors set correctly because I do. More than once since I've owned this car a car has sidled up beside me with blind spot not showing and nothing in the mirror especially if it's a down ramp situation where they are coming off the highway. The last time a guy going a little faster than traffic almost got his passenger side shave when he came up as I was changing lanes. I would take the standard mirrors with the convex mirror built in. Maps could be better, I would like it to label the secondary roads without zooming in all the time, it would make unfamiliar cities easier to navigate if you could see the next intersection name no just the main road. Goods? Mileage at 72-73 mph was great averaged 37.2. Damn quiet most of the time. Environmental controls kept car cool even in gulf coast humidity. Held all our luggage in trunk for three dudes and a cooler for a weeks stay. Last I hate the fuel gauge, can't trust it. Thanks for the space.

Did you see the episode where Jeremy was driving a Mercedes 500 class and he was able to use the ACC to drive into London without touching his brakes? Even slowed down on a round about and stopped completely behind the stopped car ahead of it. Just a matter time and all the mommies can just stare at their phones while taking their kids to their activities as her kids are staring down at their phones and no one has a conversation.

I think that's why they filmed that Fusion driving off of the cliff. He was using Lane Assist on a curve. ;-) Have you ever read the text under the car while it's going off the cliff? Warning: Cars cannot fly do not attempt. Really? Are we now that dumb?

Front camera Obstructed message?
Iwejun replied to lsherlockl's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
Arghh... rain sensing wipers, didn't have it a week before it went through car wash. I'm sitting in the waiting area watching it go through and I see the wipers running when the guy pulls it around I'm mising a wiper blade, luckily he finds it with no damage that was the last time auto sensing was turned on. Why can't they have it so it cancels after your trip is done? My wifes BMW does it that way simple switch to activate it again. -
Thoughts on Lane Assist/keeping system
Iwejun replied to lsherlockl's topic in Advanced Driver Assistance Technologies
I had a 700 mile to and from ride yesterday out to Lubbock, I was bored so I had the assist on and with hands hovering over the wheel I let it "drive" between the lines. FYI, there was no traffic on this stretch so it would gently bump the center line and then steer back and gently drift over to the right and then bump that line and steer me back left. Weird Google car feeling, when all of a sudden it chimed and told me to keep ahold of the steering wheel. LOL, it also out of the blue chimes and tells me I need a break. I have been known to do 1200 mi in 20 hr. so I just chuckle. -
Not all spoilers are made to produce downforce, some are incorporated into a design to "push" the low pressure area that is produced by the rearend further away from the car so there is less drag. I have the spoiler and compared to other cars that are producing spray at highway speeds I produce very little and what is visible is very low and back quite a ways before I see it. Throw the BS flag if you want but they were into aero with this car not only for looks but as an excercise.

If I remember I'll edit it in. That's just me, my wife has had Cutlass Sipreme, Saab 900, Honda, Honda, Lexus 300 and now drives a 10' BMW Z4, her midlife crisis car, personally I can't stand convertibles but hers with the retractable hardtop makes it bearable.- 119 replies

Got the dreaded "Washer Fluid Level LOW" message
Iwejun replied to mwr's topic in General Discussion
Water,1/2 teaspoon of Dawn, teaspoon of dishwasher rinse aid and 1/2 cup of ammonia. Of course that's my summer blend all into one gallon. -
I took my side emblems off, my neighbors call me Mr. Monochromatic. I was "killing" my vehicles long before it became popular, if I could I would have wished for the upper grill and fog lights not to have the cheesy chrome on them.

Had service done on my HYTI today, it was going to take long so I took a rental for the day. They gave me a Nissan Altima w/ 26k on it, and after driving it home I can truly say I made the right decision buying the Fusion. That car was loud with engine and transmission noise, the torque steer and over boosted steering made for a bad situation and the seats and I know I was in a rental, but they weren't going to last for the life of the car. I could already feel the bottom beginning to sag some and the wear on the cloth interior was really showing. So be happy, we have one of the quieter cars out there even thought I do read about squeaks cropping up in some owners cars at least when I shut the rear door it feels solid and not hollow.

The "goo" that everyone is up in arms about DOES NOT destroy the TPMS in your tires. Yes, the old stuff did ruin the TPMS when they were first coming out. Slime has a kit out that has the compressor and the "goo" with a valve stem remover, it's called something like The 15 Minute Flat Fix. It states that it is ok to use with TPMS and will not harm them, I have a kit in each of my families cars just in case AAA is slow and had a friend whose son had a flat in a school parking lot and used the kit and now says he has one in all his families cars. No it doesnt help a sidewall flat that is true but please don't go giving out erroneous information that in no way helps anyone, once again someone talking before learning their subject.

Vehicle Health Report not going through?
Iwejun replied to Iwejun's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Finally got it to go through, tried it once more and it was denied, then I hooked my phone with the cable and lo and behold it went through no problem. -
I put these tires on my wifes BMZ 2010 Z4 and my daughters 2001 Lexus GS300 (81K on it). The BMW was going through tires at the rate of backs being replaced at 12K and the Lexus always had a rolling, floaty feeling when you went over the entry of an overhead bridge which we have a ton of in the DFW area. Wear has been great so far on the BMW with good traction on icy days here, and the Lexus is a whole different ride. Now it feels like its on rails and I thought the Michelins that were on it were good but these are much better and it got rid of the floaty feeling on bridges at highway speeds

Are others having trouble sending your vehicle health report? I've tried numerous times in past month or so to no avail, gave up on it but was reminded to send it the other day and still it wouldn't work. TYIA

I've run K&N filter cold air intake and a Banks cold air intake on both my 7.3 turbo diesel and 6.0 turbo diesel 350's and never saw even a light sheen of dust entering into the turbo inlet. Some people will call snake oil without even doing due diligence.
