  1. Ditto everyone else. I had one incident where the touchscreen froze and didn't display anything, but everything else... nope. No issues.
  2. Not sure if it's settled, but I suspect it is. He didn't return my call, and when I emailed my salesman he talked to the guy, and emailed back that, yep, that was the error. I think the finance guy is too embarrassed to return my call.
  3. I finally figured out what it was. The guy we signed the paperwork with charged me MARYLAND sales tax, not VIRGINIA sales tax, which is where the extra $750 comes from. I'm not paying Maryland sales tax when I live in Virginia!
  4. I signed a purchase order, with an agreement to buy the car at a certain price, everything included.
  5. When I put in my order for the FFH, I asked for the EXACT amount I would be paying. Taxes, title, license, EVERYTHING. I was given a reasonable number, and I agreed on it. I signed a paper stating that that was what I would be charged. Come time to buy it, he showed me the same paper, but with a new price for the car - LOWER, because they'd messed up the taxes so they wanted to make sure my numbers still worked out. I agreed. I went back, signed all the paperwork with the finance guy... and didn't read it that closely, because I had just been shown how much I'd be paying, so I expected them to honor it. Now, three weeks later, he calls and says that my financing check was short by $750. The check was for exactly how much I was going to owe, calculated by the amount I was given minus my down payment. I argued, but he's determined that I underpaid. I don't know how he messed up the docs, but he obviously did and now is trying to make me pay the extra. I think he might have put the original selling amount, not the lower amount because of the screwup with the taxes. Also, I just noticed they added a BS charge for a "tire recycling fee," which in MD is $1 PER TIRE, and they charged me $224. What the heck is that. I'm still fighting, but probably I"ll lose because I signed the sheet without reading it thoroughly. Teach me to trust car dealers.
  6. Funny, the electronic turn signal was one thing I HATED in the 2013, and I love that they brought the mechnical back in the 2014. To each his own. If your MFT is truly crashing every 20 minutes, you should take it back to the dealership and see if they can do something, because that's not normal, sounds like a bad software install.
  7. Oh wow, those are a LOT lighter than I was expecting. Well, I hope having an infant and a car with basically white seats wasn't a huge mistake on my part. ;)
  8. Did you two get your rail car number from your dealers? Mine didn't give it to me, just said it's due the first week of December (thanks, already knew that).
  9. I've been reading Elon Musk's tweets, and he's pretty annoyed by the hoopla. He made a good point - that there's thousands (more than a hundred thousand?) of gas car fires a year, resulting in hundreds of deaths, yet THREE Tesla fires that resulted in NO deaths are huge news.
  10. I hope it comes out, but... they haven't actually MADE a battery. They need to put their money where their mouths are.
  11. They probably told you that just in case it was like last year and the cars were really delayed. Then when it comes in early, they get to make like they pulled some strings and got it to you early.
  12. Well, that's a little disappointing, I was hoping for grey. Ah well, it's better than black.
  13. How many cars could crash into a concrete wall AND a tree at a high rate of speed, and the driver gets up and walks away? I'd say that says a LOT more about Teslas than a couple of fires that were all due to extreme circumstances.
  14. Me too, woo hoo! My dealer said it's scheduled to be built November 13.
  15. Me too! I can't believe it's been scheduled that quickly, I was expecting December.
  16. I actually just had to make this decision, and it was a tough one. I loved the looks of the Mazda, and the included tech for a lower price was very nice. That SOul Red is also goooooooooorgeous. But I decided on the Fusion because the Mazda has a LOT of road noise. They must have skipped a lot of the sound dampening in the cabin, because it's pretty noisy in there. It drives awesome, but you'd have to have the radio pretty high to go over the road noise. It was tempting though... the gas mileage on the Mazda is super high without being a hybrid.
  17. I just placed my order! Ruby red HyTi, heated/cooled medium soft ceramic seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, driver's assistance package, all-weather floor mats. I'm super excited! The salesman said it would come in 6 weeks, and to that I scoffed internally and expect it to come in January sometime.
  18. I'm not sure that's a fair comparison. The Tesla hit a steel rod at a high rate of speed, and the rod punctured the battery pack with something like 26 tons of force. The battery pack was designed to contain the fire, and would have if the firemen hadn't tried to puncture through to get to the fire. If the battery is properly protected, it's no more dangerous than hitting a metal rod in the road would be to any other vehicle.
  19. Eddie, are you saying that the X-Plan isn't lowering the price for the Energi? Or that the X-Plan can be cheaper than the deal I was offered, but it just doesn't look that way on the website?
  20. Wow, that's pretty slimy. Which dealership was that?
  21. That was basically why I've decided on the FFH over the FFE. I even have the 240V charger in my garage from the Volt we just got rid of... but I didn't think I could deal with such a tiny trunk.
  22. I've always thought complimentary things, but never pulled someone aside to say them. Seeing Fusions driving around definitely led me towards wanting one, though.
  23. Toz - I can do the X-Plan, but when I customized the car on the Ford website using the X-Plan, it was actually more expensive than the prices quoted above. I think that the MD dealer, at least, might be close to invoice. jeff_h, the MD dealer is Apple Ford, is that the one you got your wife's car from?
  24. jeff_h: You're right about where the dealers are located. Why are VA dealers' processing fees so high? $500 for processing just seems insane to me. I have asked the MD dealer why the tags are so high (actually, I asked yesterday afternoon and still haven't heard back), so hopefully you're right about why. And it felt like forever when I would email in the morning asking for a price on a car that I was planning on ordering, he'd FINALLY email me back that evening, I would immediately reply, not get an answer, then he'd email me back the next morning and say he'd get the price breakdown for me, then nothing until that night when I would email to ask where it was and he would respond that he didn't have time to get it for me, he'd get it Monday (that was Saturday), and then I didn't get it until late Monday afternoon. Getting a price breakdown is apparently a lot of work, because that's about how it went down at both dealers, except the VA dealer emailed me a price on a Fusion, after I had laid out EXACTLY what I wanted in the email, and included nav and moonroof, both of which I said I didn't want! Car buying is such a hassle.
  25. I have two different dealers I requested prices from. They both took foooooooreeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeeeeer to get me prices (I started the process on Friday, and I finally got the price breakdown today), and this is for a Ruby Red Hybrid Titanium with a medium soft ceramic interior, with adaptive cruise control, driver's assistance package, heated and cooled seats, and a heated steering wheel. Place #1 $32,336 Sale Price (includes rebates) $1403 VA Sales Tax $795 Freight $499 Processing $85 VA Tags $35,118 Out The Door Place #2: MSRP: $36,125 Sale Price before rebate: $32,585Freight: $795Processing: $200Sales Tax in VA: $1,007.40Tags: $351Total before rebate: $34,938.40Rebate: $1,250 including private offerTotal balance: $33,688.40 Place #2 is actually for a grey Fusion, but with the brick red seats, so I figure the price is similar. Obviously place #2 has a better price... but what the heck is up with those tags? VA DMV charges $59 if you go and get your car registered in person! Maybe he's rolling some of the tax and part of the processing into the tags? HAs anyone ever told a dealer not to both with doing the tags and gone and done it yourself? I was just going to ditch the plates they give me anyway, since I will qualify for one of those license plates that lets you go in the HOV lane alone. Are either of those prices they gave me good deals?
