Headlight makeover
SD Diver replied to SD Diver's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Thanks for the feedback guys! I got the lights from http://www.thelightingfirm.co/fusion-mondeo-edition.html. The install took be about 45 minutes. Once you take the bumper off, the lights are a snap. Here's a good tutorial for bumper removal (relax - its pretty easy) http://2gfusions.com/index.php/topic,1367.0.html Here's one for the headlight replacement http://2gfusions.com/index.php/topic,4298.0.html As for the led fog lights, I bought these bezels http://www.ebay.com/itm/281335758987?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 and these bulbs "http://www.ebay.com/itm/121332408929?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649" The headlights were more than I wanted to spend, but the $850 that ford will soon send helped. Mine were 1150 shipped. I basically got the ones linked to above but without the "sequential" feature. The have a number of styles and are often on ebay (with 3 day sales, etc). Hope this helps. Corncobs - no, those are knockoffs. The company that did my headlights starts off with new factory headlights and retrofits from there. Mine are also bi-xenon and came with the bulbs. Bi-xenon uses a single bulb and a rotating shield and covers both high and low beams. My high beam reflector is empty, but being smoked and having the HID ballast, you can't tell. Now for the pitfalls... The instructions for the bezels seem to be for the non hybrid/Energi Fusions. If you go this route, then use fuse 3 (auto wiper) for hot and the grounding post near the the fuse box for ground. This will give you true DRLs - on when the car is on, off when turned off. I had ordered my headlights to require external external wiring for the white LED strip, but they sent me the plug-and-play version. So, to get the DRL on, I need to turn on the parking lights. Not a big enough issue for me to want to return them, and I have the added benefit that they illuminate when I remote lock/unlock the car (the led fog bezels do not). Any questions, feel free to ask! -
Added Bi-xenon projectors and a Mondeo-style DRL/turn signal to go with my LED fogs. What do you think?

Looks good. Have you considered tapping the hot side into jumper 3 and the ground into the grounding post near the fuse box? This will mahe them more like true DRL - they'll be on whenever the car is on. -
led fog light bezels
SD Diver replied to SD Diver's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Here you go. I got these bezels: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=281359641688 Note - I made a $130 offer that the seller accepted. I saw a post on 2gfusions where a user provided a step-by-step (http://2gfusions.com/index.php/topic,4363.0.html) Some differences on what they did vs my Energi (and hybrids)? I just used 2 wires - black ground to the grounding post, and red to fuse #3 - auto wipers. Here's a good bumper removal tutorial - http://2gfusions.com/index.php/topic,1367.0.html. -
Greetings! I just added some led fog light bezels and replaced the H11 with a 2K lumen LED. What do you think? First shot is at night w/o the fog lights. 2nd has the fog lights on. Third is dusk with the bezels on. Got to say, removing and reinstalling was a pain, but it worked out...

Yes - but can I charge my Energi there??? :)

I like that metal one, but am worried about it being visible with the trunk closed. Last thing I'd want with a black car is a stripe of silver showing under the trunk.

Chicago to MO (900 miles) round trip

And in SoCal would get you cut off, cursed at, and possibly worse! ;-) -
Where do you get this> Also, what's with the bubbles in the photo - is it a plastic coveribg that has yet to be removed?

OK, I'm an Energi owner who gets a lot out of the hybrid forum as well. Just took delivery of my new black berber front mats from qualitycarmats.com. Here's a side-by-side comparison. I got the berber version. I also just got an email from them last night that they now make a trunk mat for the Energi. I asked a few weeks ago when I ordered the fronts if they planned on making them, and was told that they would add the Energi to their queue. So, if any hybrid owners are interested, give them a shot. Here's how the fronts look: New are on the left, originals on the right. If interested in their mats, make sure to request carpet samples on their website. The samples came with a 5% off discount code.

Buy the FFH because of FFE's Trunk Space?
SD Diver replied to KLH's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
Well, I had been considering the FFH at first. Got to the point of having a contract written up, but then the dealer tried to stick me with their installed "add-ons" so I walked out. Next day I look at an FFE. Seeing how small the trunk was at first made it a non-starter. Was also disappointed that the FFE Titanium did not have the same 18" wheels that the FFH Titanium did. Thought about it, went over the two different forums, thought some more. Went back to the (2nd) dealer the next day, nonchalant about the FFE, and left with one a few hours later. Better equipped, it cost me $1200 less than the FFH (after state and federal credits). I was $1k below invoice before Ford's $3500 in rebates/incentives. True, I am still waiting on my CA $1500 and will have to wait until April next year for the $4K Federal, but it is only a matter of time. Meanwhile, my last "fill up" of 4.844 gallons had taken me 651 miles. I was able to switch to my power company's EVTOU2 rate plan. Since most of my usage takes place off-peak, even with charging the car my electric bill is now $100 less per month (I had most of my billing in the top tier of $0.36/kWh, now even at peak my highest rate is $0.29/kWh, with my heaviest usage (car recharge, pool filter) being at $0.16/kWh. Could not have gotten this without an EV. I am also saving over $200/mo on gas (most of my trips are short and fall within the EV range). So, in 8 years, this car will have paid for its self in fuel and power savings. Since most of the time it is just my wife and I going on trips, the trunk and fold-down seats suffice. It was a picture that an FFE user had posted of 4 cases of wine fitting in the FFE trunk that did it for me!
