  1. I'm pretty sure I have a job 1. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and steep hills, mountains, and the like are a normal part of my every day drive, we only have 17k on ours right now, but I try my best to get the most MPGs out of each tank... So, I can probably expect mine to fail. I've done the long down hill in EV only a few times coming back from the mountains. It's a game to me to try to keep it in EV... oh well. I do have the extended warranty as well, so...

  2. 16k on mine, bought it used at 6400 miles, previous owner's lifetime was 36 MPG. They never reset the trip meters. The 10k we've put on it we are averaging 39.2 right now, I'm super pleased, anytime we go anywhere here in the PNW it's a 300ft climb up a 1/4 mile stretch. Cool part is coming home, but no matter what the steep hills always affect the MPGs. Might be moving back to OKC next summer, looking forward to smashing my MPG records :)

  3. The Ford press release states all checks will be sent out BEFORE September 1st 2014. Be patient. :)

Read the above posts and you'll see that Ford is sending them out in batches by vehicle type. C-Max Energi, C-Max Hybrid & MKZh owners have received checks so far. Fusion Hybrid & Fusion Energi owners have not.

You guys Rock!! I'm thankful you guys are here to give us the official info :)

  4. The jaws of live aren't an issue since HV cables are located as far away from any potential cut point as possible.

You can download the first responder cards from etis.ford.com site it shows all possible and save to cut locations. The locations of the high strength steel is very critical to know.

Thanks! I appreciate getting informed on this, helps A ton!

  5. No one buys a car expecting to earn money back. I buy a car based on how far that gas will take me. Any new car you buy you lose close to 6k when you drive off the lot. I think the "premium" is the same if you want to buy a luxury car or a cheap economy car - you chose to buy the more expensive vehicle based on your preference, not because the car will "recoup" costs... It just so happens that a hybrid reduces your monthly fuel cost. Once your auto loan, if you have one is paid for (just like the rest of us who buy a car on a loan) all you pay for is maint. and fuel. The fuel costs just happen to be lower with a hybrid, sorry for soap boxing.

  6. Guys, this might sound silly, but anyone else had issues with the sun melting the adhesive on the velcro on the blocks causing the outer edges of the cover to flap? It doesn't get real hot here, but in direct sunlight that adhesive just gets gooey... Granted we don't have direct sunlight very often... (Seattle)

  7. Latest on my battery saver. After PM'n Ashley on this thread Ford called me, and I had just driven the car about 120 miles, and the battery saver condition was not present, so I told them I didn't want to schedule an appointment until it was failing, so they called me back this past Monday and left a message that they were closing my case number and to schedule a appointment if I had any probs. That evening (this past Monday) the battery saver condition returned. I scheduled a service appointment for this morning.

Just got my car back, they replaced the battery, and performed TSB 13-6-23.

I'll keep you guys up to date if anything changes.

  8. Thank you for posting that 12k mile fact, I was going to wait just a little longer, but im at 11,2k so, thanks!

My last experience with a Ford ESP Warranty on my Expedition paid me back 5 fold.

The last and final $1,200 warranty repair at 97,000miles was icing on the cake.

If we were talking about a Kia Soul or Toyota Corolla an extended warranty may not be justified, but we're not.

This FFH is one of the most technological and complicated vehicles in it's category.

I expect to drive my FFH well past the basic Ford Warranty period and believe buying an ESP Warranty is prudent planning, I just bought mine this week.

For anyone thinking of purchasing an extended warranty there is a Surcharge if your car has over 12,000 miles. Meaning, it costs less if you buy before 12k miles.

I looked at the Maintenance Plan and decided against it as too costly. I have a friend that has a car repair shop and he does my scheduled maintenance much cheaper than Ford.

  9. The covers would help a little I think, but with temps like that, and traffic as bad as that, the immediate suggestion is try to use the heated seats if you have them as your primary heat source. That might reduce the gas engine (ICE) cycling on and off a little. The little consolation I have for you is 23mpg moving little to no where in 2 hours is really very good :)
