  1. Just this past December I made a round trip from Central Kentucky to Hazlet, NJ using these interstates

I64 East, i77N, I79 North, I68 east, I81North, I78 East, I287 and then NJ440.Those of you who traveled these Interstates know the conditions of the roads and leaving on December 11th the weather was warm and therefore the temperature in the car was low (65), but on the other hand coming back via the same routes in reverse the temperature was cold therefore the temp in the car was warmer (72deg)

These two show the results of that one way and Round Trip

BTW the speed was between 65 and 75. Average 70 and yes there were some construction zones 40, 55 but mainly interstate speed.

  2. I logged into my account and it told me that I had an update available.

BTW I forgot to mention that the update also dimmed the screen and at first I was wondering if a bug was present but then iremembered about auto dim on the screen and brightness on the screen and once I increased the brightness all was well.

  3. Use a compatible usb that will work with fusion/mkz, download file to computer, not the usb and then unzip to usb drive.

One folder and 2 files (Do not unzip the folder.).

Have car running and insert usb that will be recognized by vehicle. You will get a message that this will take about 30mins.

File 3of 14 seems to take the longest, be PATIENT especially file 3.

It will reboot about 2times and do some scheduled maintenance.

At the end you will hear success, but do not remove usb device until you click okay.

Device removed and take to computer, insert usb into port and search the folder for an xml file which will have your vin number

    XR7VCKFT_Vin#.xml and copy to HDD.

The confirm page will say select xml and upload and you will get a message that you now have the lastest upgrade

You will need to pair phone and car again and you will have add wallpaper again (800x384)

Ford doesn't have the same leverage as Garmin or the other Nav companies when it comes to negotiating terms with the map providers, so you can't compare OEMs to Garmin, they operate on different business models.

Sorry that doesn't cut it, Ford is no rinky dink company, they are very capable of doing it if they were to put their mind to it and that is providing a d/l service to install your own maps if you pay for that service, however Ford is not there for your benefit, they are out for their own benefits. They could very easily sit down and figure out how much to charge John/Jane Doe for lifetime updates and still make a profit.

That of course would require computer programming, however the easy way out is to charge $149 for each SD card update and not do computer programming.

Ford is not "greedy", how much do they charge for services in the Ford Fusion when it's time to renew, how much do they charge for the Lincoln MKZ for the same services?

BTW i just used Garmin Express and found out there is a new update for nuvi 1690, connected my Garmin nuvi 1690 via usb to my computer and d/l 2015.30 US and Canada ~ 1 hr.

  5. Ford map update page indicate once a year new update come out and this is from their own website under FAQ

    2. How often are new map updates released?

Updates are available approximately once a year. Contact us if you want to be kept informed when your new map update is released.

The A5 supposedly came out in May/June 2014 and this is January 2015 and A6 is out , any bets that A7 comes out before the year is finished.?

    In simplest terms "Greed"

  6. When i buy something at auction such as ebay, i bid and hope that i win it and i don't ask the seller if this is stolen or on the black market then deal me out. Do you??!!! I can imagine the "polite response i will get." If i go to Macy's and see a sweater for $100 and then go to Walmart and see the same identical sweater minus the label for $35.00 assuming i know clothes fairly well should i go to the manager and tell him he's dealing with blackmarket items or stolen items.

I am suggesting that Ford should give lifetime updates and i am "willing to pay for that service" as i get with my Garmin Nuvi. They could provide a download service where i would have to purchase my own SD card and they would tell me in the download save it on the harddrive and then expand to where my SD card is on the computer. For those that are uncomfortable go to the dealer and have them do this with the knowledge that it will cost more. Ford had done this with new sync updates from Gen v2-3.6.2 to Gen v2 3.7 and one can do this on their own or see the dealer and Ford is very capable if they wanted to install this service.

$149 for each map update is a ripoff in my book and when i started the topic A5 update last year and indicated i had A5, "Where did you get it was the #1 question.

I can wait for A7 to come out and get A6 for a lot less then $149.00 because eventually it will happen and i am willing to bet that since people in the Forum know that A6 is out they are surely looking for a cheaper cost.

    Just a guess.

If A7 comes out in June or July tell me with a straight face that $149.00 is reasonable.

Apparently, since you're not getting my point.

If I break the window of a Fusion in the parking lot, open the door and pull out the map card, I can then sell it on ebay for $50. If you buy it, you will have an authentic card. Are you suggesting this is a method Ford should use to reduce their prices?

  7. This was sent to Ford Navigation maps

I have the Garmin NUVI 1690 and i purchased the lifetime updates for ONE PRICE and the updates come out at least 4 times a year,

How come you don't have lifetime updates with MFT Navigation as i would be happy to purchase this service

In addition i was able to purchase the A5 update for about $50.00 back in May 2014 and it's authentic so excuses be careful what you buy doesn't fly.

    If they respond

    No deals with lombardoford $131.82 + 19.85(Shipping)=$151.67

    Ford Direct $149.00 + 3.95 (Shipping)=$152.95 at least where i live

  8. In May of 2014 i purchased from eBay the A5 SD Card for about $50.00 and i hate to be the bearer of Bad news but there is an update to A6 for $149.00 from
    http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-FordNorthAmerica-Site/en_US/-/USD/View-Promo?Page=FordLanding&ProgramUUID=lB8KCghBNlIAAAExq39mELol&utm_campaign=Navteq-AFF&utm_medium=aff&utm_source=fordlogo&ManufacturerName=Ford&subid=FORD

I have checked eBay and this is not available yet, i suggest wait for a while to see if this appears on ebay

  9. Perhaps going on the roof and sending smoke signals might be a better explanation.

BTW I did receive a call from Ford Corporate HQ's and perhaps I might receive a more intelligible answer then from the previous genius as he checks into it.

FedEx Delivery Manager has informed me that something is coming from Michigan in two days, just after a call as indicated above from Corporate HQ's

  10. The genius I spoke to is amazing he has no supervisor when I asked to go above his head and he can't tell me if they are processing my check since he has no computer. I admit I did get off the boat, but not last night.

I get very persistent when I have to deal with morons, he told me I was reading that letter wrong and if anybody looks at that bold and underlined statement a few posts up am I reading it wrong.

I will also answer that second question I posed in reference to the Etis site and why one gets things done at the dealer and after a reasonable period of time it still show up as not being done when going back to the Etis site.

It takes up to a month or two before that update gets processed and is erased from Etis so it looks like the SM at the dealership was right. it looks like Ford needs to get to introduced

to the computer age and the art of communication.

  11. I have a better word then "Bureaucracy" and it can be put into a mathematical equation where K=S which is known as the Law of Constant Stupidity and can never be disproven.

Looks like I spoke to the same genius as I did the other day and the answer was the same, call again on the 8th of October and they will look into it.

Build dates and purchase dates have nothing to do with it, they check with the state DMV and make sure you own the car and make sure your address is correct. and by the way it is not true that all checks will be received by the 30th of September according to this genius.

So now I have left a message with John Felice (Marketing and Sales)who wrote that letter which states

"You will receive a letter in the mail along with your payment no later than September 30, 2014."

  12. Why is Ford So Incompetent?

The build date for my FFH was 1/2013 and I bought it in March of 2013 and had some magical numbers on the sticker like 47/47/47 and I of course like the most of you as the notice from ford claims that by the 30th of September all checks will be received and in my case $775.00.

I waited till the 28th of September and finally called and bet the woman on the other end my $775.00 against her $1.00 that I would not receive that check by the 30th of September. So she put me in contact with the office that handles the checks and they told me to wait until the 8th of October and then call back and they would look into it. This is early in the morning of October 1st, I will be making a call later in the day and I intend to shake up some incompetent idiots and speak to someone who says jump and these idiots say how high.

I notice that a lot of you had an earlier build date then mine and you got your checks or had a later build date then mine and you got your checks. Also Earlier /Later purchase then mine.

This not the end of incompetence, on September 17th I went to the Lincoln Dealer for recall 14E02 Software upgrade done on my Lincoln 2104 MKZ. Work was performed and every day I check Etis it still shows this work needs to be done.

So I call the dealer and he tells me that was submitted to Ford, but he indicated that Ford takes their bloody time in reimbursing the dealer and reporting that work was done and it could be another month or two before these paper shufflers do what they are supposed to do instead of rotating on a pencil.
