As some may have seen my other post, I will be buying a new car next year. But what is scaring me away from the Ford Hybrids is the cars not meeting there EPA numbers. As someone who drives a 11 year old VW Jetta TDI with 195K miles on it, I am use to 40 MPG. I average 40 MPG last tank full & this week decided to drive it like a Hybrid and got 56 MPG. Of course it was a lot of work. I am noticing the Toyota & Lexus Hybrids always make the EPA numbers. My daughter loves her Lexus Hybrid. Also a diesel always exceeds the EPA numbers with out trying. The new Passat will get 50 MPG on diesel and you do not have to baby it. I REALLY like the Ford hybrids but am very disappoint with the numbers being in the 30's not 40's. Maybe by the next year they will address this.

I am saving my money for one. Should get one next year. Looking forward to it.

So starting the car in the driveway to warm up is out of the question? Are all Hybrid's like this?

Would you buy a Hybrid again or Gas Fusion?

Thanks Guys? -
I read these mid 30's MPG & was wondering...how many would by again & would it be Hybrid or Gas? I have a VW TDI Diesel that is 10 years old & want to replace it with a hybrid. Ford was my first choice but I don't know now. How about one a year old or so?

With your poor gas mileage would I be better off buying a gas Ford Fusion?

I read in here the car takes awhile to warm up? Is this true? Are all hybreds like this? I drive a VW TDI ( Diesel ) and it will not warm up unless you drive it awhile. I take a ferry to work & sit & let the heater run for about a hour sometimes. Will I lose heat in the winter? I was looking forward to getting in a warm car again.
