  1. After waiting for 16 weeks for a FFH that was promised for delivery in 7-9 weeks, the car I ordered is finally about ready for pickup. The problem is the shipment was delayed twice by "quality control" concerns, the first leading to further work before the car was even shipped from Mexico and the second when the rail car was diverted to Flat Rock, MI for a further inspection at the Ford plant. I understand that a delay and re-inspection could be for a minor issue that might not matter in terms of the car's quality and reliability (and hopefully the problem has been fully resolved), but it also could relate to a bigger issue that I should know about before I complete my purchase. But I talked to my dealer and to Ford directly and they tell me that Ford does not release information about the cause of delays like this. So I'm in the dark, left to wonder if this is potentially major defect that Ford doesn't want to discuss. If it's no big deal, then Ford would tell me that, right? So the question for this group is whether multiple quality control delays are common in FFH's. Does this suggest there are bigger problems with the car or am i just worrying too much? Any advice or insights would be appreciated.
  2. I ordered my FFH over 13 weeks ago and I'm still waiting with no end in sight (despite the initial estimate of 7-9 weeks). Here's the timeline. Is anyone else having multiple delays and inspections due to "quality control" issues? It sure doesn't give me confidence in the manufacturing process here... 12/1/12 – order placed. 1/13/13 – car built 1/31/13 – I'm told shipment was delayed due to need to install remote start off-site 2/5/13 – I'm told there is further delay because Ford has temporarily stopped shipping on all Fusions for some type of "quality control" checks. 2/15/13 – car has been released and is on train. 2/28/13 – in response to my question about why train is taking longer than expected, I'm told car has been diverted to the Ford plant at Flat Rock, MI for a re-inspection to ensure that a quality concern on that particular run has been fixed. No ETA.
