After waiting for 16 weeks for a FFH that was promised for delivery in 7-9 weeks, the car I ordered is finally about ready for pickup. The problem is the shipment was delayed twice by "quality control" concerns, the first leading to further work before the car was even shipped from Mexico and the second when the rail car was diverted to Flat Rock, MI for a further inspection at the Ford plant. I understand that a delay and re-inspection could be for a minor issue that might not matter in terms of the car's quality and reliability (and hopefully the problem has been fully resolved), but it also could relate to a bigger issue that I should know about before I complete my purchase. But I talked to my dealer and to Ford directly and they tell me that Ford does not release information about the cause of delays like this. So I'm in the dark, left to wonder if this is potentially major defect that Ford doesn't want to discuss. If it's no big deal, then Ford would tell me that, right? So the question for this group is whether multiple quality control delays are common in FFH's. Does this suggest there are bigger problems with the car or am i just worrying too much? Any advice or insights would be appreciated.
