UPDATE! We got back last night and I couldn't be happier with the results. From Cleveland to Raleigh I got 43.5 mpg and the return trip was at 43.1. My sister drove part of the way and is not familiar with the car so I think the mpg could have been a little higher if I had driven the whole way. We had a bit more construction on the trip home with a lot of stop and go but no long braking so that may have explained part of the lower mpg. Regardless, I think the results were great. Again, thanks for the earlier comments and your help! Karen

You guys are the best! I am so happy with my 46 mpg average and I really didn't want to take a big step backward and with your help I'm feeling so much more confident. Last year we took my sister's Lexus and we were happy with her 30 mpg. Who needs a Lexus when you have a FFH!!!

Thanks, gentlemen. Eco-cruise should have been obvious to me but I tried to over-think it. I'll post my results after my return. Karen

First, thanks again to all of you wonderful posters who have taught me how to drive my FFH. My dealer gave me absolutely no information as to how to get the best mileage from my car but with your help I am now at 46 mpg! Now I have a question. In a couple of weeks we're doing a "sisters trip" from Cleveland to Raleigh (disregard the information about me as my husband signed up on this forum). I'm very comfortable with the Ohio and NC part of the trip but I am clueless as to how to drive the hills of West Virginia and Virginia to maximize my mpg. Just fyi -my car is currently at the dealer getting the update. Thanks in advance! Karen

I got my FFH in February and "wasted" the first 500 or so miles by driving my car as I always have. Since then I have learned a lot from some very generous contributors to these forums and with almost 4,000 miles my average is up to 45.9 mpg. In part because of where I live (quiet Northeast Ohio) and in part because my driving habits have changed, my average continues to slowly tick up. An interesting sidenote - I find myself much calmer when I drive. I wasn't an aggressive driver but I was impatient. I hope that after spending some time on these forums you will find your mpg improving. If it does turn out to be car-specific, I hope that your dealer works with you to find a solution. *** Side note - my husband is listed as the FFH Member on these posts but it's my car - and I'm a 63 year-old female. Just fyi.

Two things: I'm 5'2 so I think I need to look into some sort of a cushion as suggested above. Thanks for the tip. Also, I just noticed that my husband is shown as the Enthusiast on this board, however, it's MY car!!! I do let him drive it once in a while! I just wanted to clear up any confusion.

I couldn't be happier with my FFH. I live east of Cleveland and between the hills and the cold I'm not getting the 47mpg on a regular basis, but I am often in that range. I ordered it in Ice Storm and get lots of compliments on the color. My only complaint is that the passenger seat is too low and not adjustable. When my husband drives I can hardly see out!
