  1. I had my Fusion at the dealer on Thursday, where they did a more in-depth check of everything and determined they needed to "reprogram" the computer that controls the charging. I didn't ask specifically, but I'm guessing this was one of the TSBs talked about earlier in this thread, probably 13-7-11. It worked great Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Didn't drive it Saturday or Sunday, then this morning it wouldn't start. Battery is completely dead, no lights, no locks, etc. Going to contact my dealer and have them tow it to their service department and have another look. This is getting very old very fast... I have a customer service case open, so hopefully they'll intervene and make sure everything goes smoothly, as well.

The best thing I can suggest is to establish a good working relationship with the Service Manager. That way, you can create an advocate to help with any service technician problems. It sounds obvious but many just don't do it. Quash the anger and simply apply logic... a la Mr. Spock ?

  2. I just picked up the 2013 Fusion HyTi at the dealers. Here is exactly what they noted and found (This could happen to you as well):

11331 UNABLE TO VERIFY CONCERN OF NEEDING TO BE JUMP STARTED, CONTACTED CUSTOMER WAS INFORMED STOP SAFELY NOW AND WRENCH LIGHT ALSO APPEARED ON DASH. EEC TESTED AND RECEIVED NUMEROUS NETWORK DTC'S U0253, U0265 ETC. FOUND RELATED SSM 44614 AND REMOVED CENTER CONSOLE SIDE TRIM PANEL AND DC/AC INVERTER TO BE ABLE TO INSPECT HARNESS FOR RUM THROUGH CONDITION. FOUND A RUB THROUGH ON A WIRE IN HARNESS 14401 NEAR CONNECTOR 3501. REPAIRED WIRE AND INSTALLED FOAM TAPE AROUND THE INVERTER TO PREVENT FUTURE HARNESS CONCERNS, RE-TESTED. NO LIGHTS ARE PRESENT. COMPLETE.

Evidently, it took 22 months for this condition to occur. the only moving part in the center console is the automatic shifter. Hopefully, our 2014 won't exhibit the same concern at some future time.

  3. Well, today my wife tried to start her 2013 (22 months old) and the battery was totally dead. After a jump, we got the STOP SAFELY message and Ford Roadside Assistance (at the Dealer's recommendation) towed it to the dealership. Now waiting for evaluation.

Update: Ford Towed the car to the dealership. BIG CUDOS to Ford Roadside Assistance. Courtesy, speed and efficiency were TOP NOTCH! The technician towing the car had to energize the 12V circuits via the engine compartment to allow enough juice to open the trunk and jump start the battery so he could get the car out of my garage and onto the flatbed truck. The dealership said it started just fine upon arrival ????? They are keeping it overnight to see if it starts in the morning.

  4. Had 14E02 done a few days ago on our 2013 HyTi and had to bring the car back to Ford today. DRIVER ASSIST no longer available. Also, the backup camera stopped working and it required a SYNCH Factory Reset to correct. Doing so also made a number of other settings need to be corrected. For some reason, front and rear parking assists defaulted to OFF.

The DRIVER ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE problem is stumping the dealer, who told me that it had been seen once on a Lincoln. They need to get with Ford and have the car for a day next week to correct it.

  5. 14E02 caused a problem with both the backup camera AND Driver Assist not working. Resetting SYNC to factory defaults cured the backup camera problem. The dealer is going to have to get with Ford to figure out why Driver Assist is no longer functioning. Dealer has seen this on a Lincoln once.

  6. It was time to do the dance again, as the 6-month special radio trial for $30 (from letter above) on her car expires tomorrow. I couldn't canx via chat, it gave popup that I had to call 888-601-6302.

I called and said I wanted to cancel, they asked about the service and I said it was fine, but I didn't want to pay the full price on which the service was about to renew.

She said "let me see what I can do for you" and said that they could offer half price off of the normal $15/month fee, I said no thanks as I was happy with the trial offer of 6 months for $30 that I had before. She said that was no longer available, and I said OK then go ahead and cancel it.

She said OK well the next best thing they had was the current trial offer, which was $25 for 5 months -- I said no that's OK just go ahead and cancel unless they still had the same price as I had on the trial. She they asked me to hold so she could discuss with her support team. Then I got the funky on-hold music for about 3 minutes.

She came back and said that her supervisor had approved them to offer a 6-month trial for $25, so with the fees tacked on that comes to $29.33 -- I said OK sounds good, and that was that. Just put another reminder on my outlook calendar for 6 months minus 2 days, when it will be dance time for the blue car again. When they did the 6-month trial for the red car they loaded on back-to-back trial offers, so that one is good until next June, and on the calendar too.

    Nice negotiation, Jeff.

  7. The final outcome!

After 5 months Ford has repurchased the vehicle in the OP.

In fact it spent another 3 weeks in the shop just before they agreed to take it back in mid-April getting me close to 80 days out of service in 8 months.

After agreeing to repurchase, the process took several weeks to complete as they messed up by sending the paperwork to the wrong dealership. Last Friday the bank confirmed the payoff was received and the loan paid off.

Once I had a hard commitment on the repurchase I went to look for a replacement and went with the MKZ hybrid so I will be sticking around with you guys. The car I found on the dealer's website was in the exact configuration I wanted, was in production at the time and was to be delivered in two to three weeks. Karma for sure! After telling the Lincoln sales managers my story, they made me a first time under cost offer that I could not refuse.

Now 2300 miles later a can say I have not had one issue with the MKZh and I am getting mixed driving trips of 50 miles one way of up to 52 MPG with the lifetime of 44.2 MPG as of this morning. Not bad at all.

Thanks for all your support and safe driving to all.

I love a happy ending. :shift:
