Report reply Foreverendsonfri Posted November 18, 2009 I work at Sherwin Williams.. So i used high industrial enamels (common on school lockers and exterior railings...the product is ASE [all surface enamel]..)that we sell Sanded Chrome off down to plastic coating (the bars are actually metal if you sand deep enough aka too deep)CLEAN THE DUST A LOT! the primer will look like Crap if you dont and it wont adhere correctly.. I used Rust Preventative Primer (spray)... it coats amazingly well..(also at Sherwin Williams.. Then I coated the ASE Pre-Packaged Black Semi Gloss With an aerosol loaded mini sprayer..This contraption has a glass jar that connects .. easily cleaned and can be reused for Clear Coat... The clear coat is something you should ALWAYS buy from a real automotive coatings store... I didnt visit the sherwin williams auto because they are dicks and dont answer the phone.. I went to a place in Tx called Gladwell Automotive Coatings.. They sell the clear coat part A (mixed a -4 to b- 1) and Hardener part B. This stuff is super thin so UNLIKE THE OTHER COATINGS it doesnt require thinning... All this stuff will mess up your brain if you inhale alot of it.. soooo use some kind of respirator .. I didnt wetsand when i coated the black.. but i should have.. Honestly, the grill is about 85% smooth.. there are very few imperfections even upclose but the wetsand really does help it pop.. i suggest 2000 grit..i THINK thats what i used.. (stole a sheet haha).. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Report reply R3DALRT Posted November 28, 2009 Hey, what about the emblem? I have the 08 Redfire Fusion, and thought about coloring the emblem to match. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
