Anyone else getting the new pop up / slide up ads in the lower right hand corner of the screen on this site? Looks to have been recently added. So annoying as it always seems to be in the way of my mouse. I know the site needs to cover its operating costs but isn't there already enough ads on here?

In the ad box you have the option to opt out of the ads. I also use Adblock Plus. I don't get any popup ads. You can go to your addons in your broser and get rid of them there.

They are extremely annoying.  I've even seen empty boxes popping up.

I typically don't mind the ads at the top and side of a web page and never really had a need for a pop up blocker, as I know sites have to at least cover their operating costs, but when the ads pop up like these are doing and affecting the usability of the site it is very frustrating.

Just to highlight the usability issue the pop up is currently covering the "Post" button. Guess an attempt to stop this post. LOL

It's apparently a new function of this sites ad client. I hope they get rid of it.

Very annoying on the iPad, moves to be right where you are reading, covering the text. Aggravating.
I'd love to have whatever changed to allow this reversed.

The Moderators are looking into this 'feature'.  When we know more we'll post it here.

It's not a feature, it's a way to drive people away from the forum.

I thought the adds that used to be across the bottom ot the page were bad.   This is a 1000 times worse.

As I type this there is a blank one over top of the button I need to post this reply.

These new ads certainly lessen my desire to visit this site, can't imagine what the casual person browsing thinks. They need to be banished, the ads that is.

What add on is causing this to happen?  I don't see adsense listed.

I think you misunderstand.

It is caused at the forum end, NOT an addon at your end.

You can fix the problem with an browser addon though.

I have tolerated the ads for many years until another site I frequent got carried away in similar fashion.

Now AdBlocker Plus solves the problem quite nicely; I didn't even realize that there WAS a problem here.

And just a side note:

The forum itself has NO control over what the "pass through" ads contain.

They could contain nasty stuff that attacks your computer.

I don't like the way it operates and feel much better since I blocked the stuff.

That works as well!
The one I was referring to is to the left of "Change Theme" there is just a lot less options but it works well for just reading and responding.

I just installed Adblock on my iPad. The pop up ads are gone. Having to use a seperate browser just for this site is a pain.
