2014 FFH Transmission Leaking

Love the car so far. Took it in for the first oil change today at 10,000 miles. The tech at the oil change place let me know that it looks like transmission fluid has been leaking. Went immediately to the Ford dealership, but they couldn't even look at my car today. Since I had to head back to Alexandria, I had to take my wife's car and she will try and get my car looked at tomorrow. Hopefully this can be fixed and not turn into a recurring issue.

 

With this being my first brand new car, my biggest worry was that I'll have major mechanical issues. I'll try and keep the forum updated so you can be mindful of the same issues on your vehicles.

Frustrating side note on that oil change...

 

They didn't put the shield back on underneath my car. They stuck it in the trunk. So I'm on my way home from the dealership, and I hear something repeatedly scraping the ground. I get out and it is the metal cover underneath my car. Thankfully there was no damage, and the oil change place put the metal shield and cover back on.

I don't think so. He said "local oil change place".

 

This has been an issue with 2013s as well. There is a thread about that topic in the maintenance section. I'm moving this topic there as well.

I got the oil changed at a chain oil change place. The Ford dealer couldn't squeeze me in on the day I needed to get it done.

 

I left the car with my wife and she brought it in. Got back into town last night and all was fixed. The leak was coming from where the transmission meets the axle. The dealership replaced the transmission seal and it's good to go now.

 

So at least the problem is fixed. It had me worried there for a day or two.

You can add my 2014 FFH to the list of ones with an early transmission leak.

 

My regular dealership found it at the 3rd oil change with 14.5K miles on my FFH (freebie oil changes every 5K miles for first 15K miles). But they didn't mention anything about a leak when they did the last oil change at 9K miles.

 

I have an appointment tomorrow morning to get it fixed at my dealership.

I dropped my car off early this morning at my regular dealership, and they called later to tell me it is the same issue as the OP's issue...the leak is where the axles connect to the transmission.

 

This means they don't have to drop my transmission, which my SA mentioned saves a lot of time. But my dealership still has to wait for the parts to be delivered from the warehouse, and the SA doesn't expect them to arrive until the end of the day. ;( So it looks like my FFH will be spending the night at the dealership unless the parts arrive earlier than expected.

Luckily the parts arrived at the dealership late afternoon yesterday, so they were able to have the repairs done around 5pm yesterday. They said they not only replaced the seal, but the whole axle shaft as well. According to my Trip 1 gauge, the dealership only put 5 miles on my FFH, but they decreased my half-tank MPG average by 2 MPG. :detective:

Glad they got it fixed for you. Most likely the road tests (after the repair) were not a driving style conducive to good MPG.

I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 56,000km or 34,000miles.  I have to pay $2,800. for repairs, not under warranty.  Very dissapointed in this vehicle - my 1st ford.

 

At oil change discovered leaking seals on transmission - 3 sources of transmission fluid leaking both axle seals as well as damper hosing silicone seal on ecvt transmission motor.

Need to remove and reseal ecvt case half, axle seals and alignment.

 

Has anyone else had this problem?

The tans leak and trans seals should still be covered under the hybrid warranty for your 2014. You should not have to pay anything for the repair.
