BANG! Went the trunks torsion rod.

Opening the trunk....Bang!

Opened the trunk again its heavy.

The torsion rods look positioned fine.

 

But on closer inspection. I could see the bracket that holds the driver side torsion bar is disconnected.

The metal looks bent.

Not just bent. the pocket for the torsion bar looks stressed and stretched.

I wouldn't try to reattach the bar.

Even small torsion bars pack a wallup.

 

It shifted the trunk slightly. Making the paint touch the body. So the trunk is off limits for a time.

This is the upgraded trunk torsion bars per a earlier rear spoiler weight recall.

I think they will need a new hinge. The metal looks too weak and damaged to fix.

Anyone else have this problem????

First date I could get for service to look at it, Sept 19th.

 

So, no news yet.

Got the car back late Tuesday nite.

Trunk works fine.

But, a few minors.

There was a vinyl stick on patch that crosses the Rear 1/4 panel and the body. That wasn't replaced.

And the trunk lid corner that was scratching the vinyl patch and eventually the paint.

That wasn't painted at all.

I will call on the patch and put touchup on the trunk corner.

Also, the new hinges. They were painted, but no clearcoat on top.

So it's just a dull coat of raw paint.

 

See what the dealer says on Monday.
