ANC - active noise cancellation

I recently test drove a 2013 fusion hybrid and was very happy with the performance and features of it. I purchased a 2014 Fusion Hybrid SE and noticed that the engine noise inside was quite a bit louder. I am now told that the ANC was eliminated in the 2014 model, much to my dismay. Can anyone confirm this is true and why it was eliminated? I can definitely notice the difference between the 2013 and 2014.

ANC has not been eliminated as far as I know.

Active Noise Cancellation is still listed as standard equipment in the 2014 Fusion Hybrid Order Guide. If you're concerned about the amount of noise your vehicle is making, I recommend bring it to the attention of your dealership so they can check it out.

I verified that it is also listed as standard equipment in the 2015 FFH order guide.

I'm not convinced I've got it in our 2014. Or maybe it isn't particularly effective?

 

The Owner's Manual only mentions Active Noise Control in the list of fuses. I don't know how to test it or turn it on or off. I was thinking that it's only a feature in the MKZ -- I checked the MKZ Owner's Manual for comparison and it says "Active noise control utilizes your vehicle electronics to enhance the acoustic experience." but nothing else other than the list of fuses. I also looked in the 2013 Fusion manual and it's the same as the 2014.

Sit in the drivers seat....look up at the headliner......see the two speaker like things over the front two seats.....look at the headliner over the drivers side rear seat.....see the speaker like thingy? If so you have ANC.

Here I was thinking that was some sort of air vent for the headliner!

I'll probably try the suggestion of pulling the fuse to see what difference it makes.
