Vibrations at start up

Sometimes when I turn on the fusion and sit idle long enough for it to kick off electric into the gas mode. When this happens after my car has not been driven in a few hours it seems to vibrate more than normal until i drive a few miles. The vibration is especially noticible on the gas/brake pedals. I assume the vibration is coming from the engine trying to warm up faster than normal? I am not use to an Atkinson cycle engine either so any help would be appreciated!

I have the exact same problem/description. Same car as DroidGeek as well. 2014 SE + Navigation and upgraded leather interior.

Vibration is not normal in any circumstance or operating range.

When the ICE is running while braking (only happens during warm up) I feel vibration in the brake pedal. I think it's just the car running. We get so used to EV operation that anytime the ICE is on it seems loud & annoying.

The vibration only happens the first time the ICE kicks in (cold start). It almost feels like it is actually something else that is electrically driven or maybe the ICE has an idle kick-up solenoid at first run when cold so the ICE starts at higher RPM=Higher vibration. It goes away usually in the first two minutes. FYI and different topic: APIM problems still exist even in the new Fusion. Mine went out after 700 miles--dealer ordering a new one.

I'm a little late to this party but THAT is just not a responsible thing to say.

 

EVERY automobile ever made has some kind of vibration present under some contidions.

 

I too have noticed that the engine seems to run "rough" right after starting in some circumstances for 30 seconds or so and have assumed that it is "normal".

APIM problems still exist even in the new Fusion. Mine went out after 700 miles--dealer ordering a new one.

 

I bet that there is NOT a real solenoid......as everything is computer controlled; a solenoid would not be needed to increase the idle speed.

 

And what is an APIM ?

 

And why post that information in THIS thread.......where it is somewhat hidden ???
