Fusion Pet Peeves

Yup, all the Fusions sold in Canada have DRLs. It must be a programming thing to have them on in some versions/models and not in others. I'm sure dealers will be able to turn them on for customers once they are told how to do so. If the Toyota salesmen is using that as a reason for not buying a FFH and to buy a TCH then that's a stretch.

 

As for my one and only pet peeve. I would say the location of the window and mirrors control on the driver door. I find that it's too slopped down and away. I'm only 5'9" but I usually have to lean forward (just a bit) to reach the driver window button. If Ford was to angle it upwards instead of downwards, then this wouldn't be much of a problem.

 

Other than that I don't mind the location of the centre console arm rest and the location/distance of the climate controls etc.

 

As for a place to put your cell phone. I highly recommend you invest in the Proclip cell phone holder. Best purchase I made for this car. I have 2 peeves on my Fusion, the first, the Titanium seat is not nearly as comfortable as the SE Luxury, and the second, and I am sure a lot will agree, the engine drone is horrible, but all the hybrids are like this, so You get what you get. At least with the windows up it isnt so grumbling, but I drive with them down a lot so it gets monotonous.

 

I can fix the seat, someday someone will wreck an MKZ or SE Luxury and I can get the seat, or get the seat cushion and leather cover and just swap it out, cant do anything with that engine drone though.

 

But, wont give it up for anything now, Great car and love driving it. The Sony system is great, love rocking it and driving it.

Maybe I've just gotten used to it but I don't think it sounds that bad. It seems to me like it sounds worse at idle when the ICE is cold so it doesn't shut off while you're stopped at a light than it does under load while driving. It sounds tinny at idle.

I look forward to that. Thanks. I called to get it in and have the new software upgrade, leather shifter rather than the rubber one, and the cracking front end thing fixed. They had no info on the software upgrade yet. They did however have a fuel module that has to be replaced, but the letters haven't gone out yet. So I hope to get a lot of stuff done all at once including an 'F'ing :hysterical:

Extra thick cyanoacrylate (super-glue) will reattach any letters permanently. I've used one available at most hobby shops (like Rider's in Grand Rapids) called Maxi-Cure. I works great, but I'm prejudice, since we make it here in California. I've only had one letter come loose so far, but I know there will be more.

I found a CA I really like, not because of the glue, but because of the bottle. Mercury Glue has a bottle whose cap has a pin in it to keep the tip clean. I have been getting an 8oz bottle of glue and just refilling this one bottle.

For us, it's when you turn on the seat warmers or environment controls - they come on full blast and have to be hit several times to turn down the heat or turn down the fan. We both find this extremely annoying.

I agree, anyone know if they reversed this to act normally? Meaning you turn it up rather than down when turning them on? This was annoying on the test drive car, I thought maybe the previous test driver had just left it set on high. So, I'm hoping they adjust the software to do just the opposite or better, have it remember where it was set last and/or something like seat memory, let you pre-set it based on who is driving or something like that. Full blast might be common setting, but its not ideal to force it to always start full blast, medium maybe, but not full blast.

I agree on the steering wheel issue. the opening is too small and to add injury to insult, the inside edges are sharp such that it's uncomfortable. When the weather clears here, I may be hitting it with a grinder. Agree on the center console. I had a newer Doge something that had the same setup and it slid forward almost 8 extra inches. What's really pissing me off is the MyFordTouch/Snyc/Navigation/Voice control component system. It has the worst UI I've ever experienced in a car computer. Not well thought out and buggy. I hope to write a detailed review on it when I'm less irritated. I have the cracking noise everyone else is bitching about and I also have a very loud clanking near the passenger side shoulder harness. I suspect it's that little rod in the door column that locks the shoulder belt in place when the forward momentum changes. Reminds me of clicking of the ball-bearings in the Cain Mutiny. Love the car though.

 

My daughter said the same thing about the steering wheel leather wrapping had way to sharp of edges and I agree, they need to address that, kind of silly to need an aftermarket rubber wrap from your local car shop to make something as simple as the steering wheel more comfortable.

Love the car, but my pet peeves are:

- glossy area around drink holders gets scratched up easily.

- touchscreen at too steep an angle so it usually gets glare..

You might try Invisible Shield protective film you can get for iPad's and trim it for the console. I put this on my iPad and it not only prevents scratches (military grade), but it also made it a lot easier to read in board daylight too.

Well it's gotten to the point where I have to post it here: I'm getting weary of the interior build quality in my FFH.

 

Mechanically, the car runs fine. Great even. But while the interior looks and feels nice, I've never heard so many rattles and seen so many misfitting trim pieces in a car this new. I've already had the A Pillar plastic piece between the windshield and drivers window replaced because it was visibly warped and not fitting correctly, but things haven't stopped there.

 

The plastic piece behind the handle on the inside of the passenger door is loose enough to rattle on slight bumps and rougher highways. Took me forever to find it, thought it was the speaker at first. Now something is rubbing/rattling/clicking down near my left hip, either under the seat or (more likely) the plastic pieces on the lower part of the center console. Urgh. I'm very sensitive to these little sounds, they bug the heck outta me. I also think a couple of other trip pieces are fitting funny around the back window.

 

As I said I like most things about the car, but this problem is starting to get to me.

I'm surprised you have interior build quality issues. We've found the interior build quality to be stellar, the exterior build quality is what's awful on our car. I did the Zaino treatment yesterday and it seems that EVERY SINGLE exterior trim panel is poorly applied and is loose.

If we could have combined our two vehicles we'd probably have a very solidly put together car. haha. No issues on the outside for me.

Several times different passengers have accidentally pressed the park assist button on the passenger side of the console. Ford could find a better location for that control.

This is only a minor pet peeve, but I find that sometimes when I am putting the transmission into Park, my finger hits the Grade Assist button. Poor placement of this button. Not a biggie, but definitely a "peeve".
